That might hit oil prices a bit
Things that make you go "Hmmm".
A bit??!! Home fuel oil is already topping $2.00 a gallon in Maine. At least northern Maine. This is rediculous.
Thank God I have wood back-up!!
I may want to fill up right about now. :-)
Bush's fault, no doubt.
How is it possible for the "entire" Country to lose power?
BFD...

I just got my gas bill from last month when I turned the heat on for only a few hours. I am going to have to get some really warm clothes.

Outage stops Kuwaiti oil flow
31/10/2004 17:18 - (SA)
Kuwait City - A power failure on Sunday affecting most of Kuwait forced a shutdown of the country's three oil refineries, which could take two or three days to restart, but the nation's energy minister said oil production would not be affected.
Facilities at Mina al-Ahmedi, Mina Abdullah and Shuaiba, run by the state-owned Kuwait National Petroleum Co (KNPC), process about 930 000 barrels of oil per day.
"The three oil refineries stopped operating gradually after the power cut (which hit) the country", said KNPC spokesperson Mohammed al-Hajiri.
Shortly before Hajiri's statement, state-run Radio Kuwait, cited the energy ministry as announcing that the country had been hit by a total power blackout due to a "technical fault that is being repaired".
Within a few hours, electricity had been restored at Mina Abdullah and work was under way toward restarting it, according to Hajiri.
"Because the shutdown was an emergency one, it will take two to three days to bring them back on line," Hajiri said.

We have had one of the coldest Octobers in N California in a long time.
Our gas furnace has autotimers with presets to go on if the temp gets down below 60. It has gone off about every morning in October, and will cycle back in a few times until noon when when it goes off until after 6 pm. This past week, it has been going off at 5 am or earlier which means it has really been cold.
Most of the time the furnace never kicks in during October and seldom before Thanksgiving. So much for Global Warming.

The oil companies are simply ripping. While crude prices are up, there is no need for the present prices, other than just generating obscene profit. The American people also better consider what Presidential candidate wants to generate an energy policy that lets us be much less dependent on foreign oil....?????? ... remember all you liberals --- Clintoon and Gore both REJECTED DEVELOPING ANY FORM OF AN ENERGY POLICY!!!!

It's just another completely unrelated, totally isolated incident! ;-) (sarcasm off)
It is really getting rediculous.
I lock in each year for 2,000 gallons of heating fuel for the coming season, and also this summer, I bought 6 cords of wood for this winter.
They hit us for the summer vacations (gasoline), and now they hit us again for the winter (people who heat their homes with oil). We have no natural gas lines up here. What else can we do?
You're right......and I do have warm clothing. hehe!
Have you forgetten about the big blackout that hit the East Coast 2 summers ago?
JF'nK: "If we had left Saddam keep control of Kuwait, the power would have stayed on..." [monotone]
Am I the only one thinking...you know...oil refineries should have, say, gas powered generators on the premesis? I mean...come on!
We just finished putting in our fireplace, here in Louisiana. We haven't fired it up yet, as I type this my air-conditioners are going full throttle. When the cold finally gets here the fireplace with a blower in it should help keep us warm.
