CRONKITE: KARL ROVE BEHIND BIN LADEN TAPE Sat Oct 30 2004 16:31:19 ET
Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.
Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.
Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."
Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve accusation.

Ol' Cronkie has said that he is a fiscal conservative (keep my money) and social liberal (let everything else go to hell)--the worst kind of liberal. Self satisfied, smug, liberal limousine.
What is it about these Texas born reporters: Ivins, Blather, and Cronkie...psychosocial profile appreciated.

In otherwords, the lefists think the Osama tape is bad news for Kerry.
It's sick.
Here we have a threat to this country, and they put Rove in league with Osama, and Kerry rails on about Tora Bora.
I hate it. I hate that a national security threat has been made a talking point among the punditry over whom it benefits most. A point to spin! Conservatives and Liberals alike, it is making me ill.
And why are we at this point? Because certain people in this country decided that attacking our national security was essential to regain power.

Late to this news, laughing, the lunacy of the left is beyond comprehension.CBS should just admit it was the media wing of the RAT party for the last 40+ years.

Walter Cronkite is an idiot. Question for Cronkite: How did Karl Rove manage to contact bin Laden?

Actually Walter for once in his life is semi correct.
That was a clone of Rove/Cheney designed to look like OBL.
We will be releasing photos of this Rove/Cheney clone who looks like OBL driving to the taping interview with his Haliburton Truck loaded with the missing high explosives.
Kerry was replaced with a Rove/Cheney clone which failed to look like OBL. We found if put expensive hair on the clone with a yellow bracelet, a pink tie and have him say and do stupid things. Then, no one would notice that Kerry has been replaced with a Rove/Cheney clone. The Rove/Cheney clone replace Kerry at the Red Sox game and made the great pitch to start the game.

To think Cronkite was once one of the most trusted men in America? The longest lasting effect of this election may be the complete destruction of the mainstream media oligarchy, leading to a reexamination of EVERYTHING THEY HAVE EVER SAID OR DONE.
It will start with Walter and the Vietnam War. His despicable lies and Kerry's treason will be the things that burst the damn (not a typo). The Blogsphere will dig, and dig, and dig some more. We will build second lives, or even careers, around ferreting out the truth and declaring it for the whole world. Their phony and self referential reputations, and even their lives, will be burned on the pyre of their lies exposed.
It will spill over into academia. The insignificant people who have tyrannized schools of "higher education" with their twisted, hate filled, evil little minds, will have their works brought out into the light.
There are millions of hours of film and tape. Billions of words in archives. Thousands of individuals with priceless true stories that have been ignored or suppressed. It will take discipline and structure. It will take care, lest we become guilty of the sins that they have committed. We must check and double check, then submit our evidence for critical review by our peers. And that means all of our peers, not just our natural allies. Our enemies, too, must be given a shot. For if we can weather their spin we can prove our point.
And the truth, itself, will be set free.
A call to action.

From the LKL
transcript:
KING: They'll all be here, Walter. Walter Cronkite, the legendary journalist and old friend, a great man in the history of broadcast journalists, and maybe the most revered person ever to go on camera. Let's first play a little bit of this tape, in which bin Laden, released today, directly addresses the American people. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OSAMA BIN LADEN (through translator): Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands. Any nation that does not attack us will not be attacked.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
KING: OK, Walter. What do you make of this?
CRONKITE: Well, I make it out to be initially the reaction that it's a threat to us, that unless we make peace with him, in a sense, we can expect further attacks. He did not say that precisely, but it sounds like that when he says...
KING: The warning.
CRONKITE: What we just heard. So now the question is basically right now, how will this affect the election? And I have a feeling that it could tilt the election a bit.
In fact, I'm a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing. The advantage to the Republican side is to get rid of, as a principal subject of the campaigns right now, get rid of the whole problem of the al Qaqaa explosive dump. Right now, that, the last couple of days, has, I think, upset the Republican campaign. KING: Are there enough undecideds to tilt this? Or what do you think of the whole election picture?
CRONKITE: Well, I think it's one of the biggest messes we've had in a long time. I believe that we're undoubtedly not going to know the results of this election. I don't want to knock you off the air on Monday night or anything, or Tuesday night. But I suspect that we're not going to know who the next president is, whether it is Bush or the new man, until very probably sometime in the early spring. There's so much controversy that they're planting, deliberately planting at the polls, that there's almost certainly to be a suit going back to the Supreme Court eventually, going through the other courts slowly first.
