LOL, good one! A newbie outing a newbie! It gets crazier everyday here. LOL I am glad you got my humor! My post was directed at all those that *roll their eyes* at newbies as being not credible. Thanks for not being part of that crowd.

without such proof all we have are the exsisting documents, which show that he received an Honorable Discharge in 1978. Which is exactly what got Navy Chief latched onto the story. Kerry wasn't "scheduled" to get discharged in 1978. His actual discharge would have been before that, based on his term of enlistment. The one that happened in 1978 was "in addition to" his alreay existing discharge.

Your date says Sept. 12th 2004. Who's the Newbie and what does it matter. Do we have some kind of seniority system here?
To: TheGunny
I think there are a bunch of old registered democrats that just don't know the difference because of the lies of the BM (Biased Media. And they vote, and on Tuesday, the old way with ID and registration card in hand. If they get any piece of this story, questioning Kerry's discharge, it could swing them.

"Why isn't Chief responding to the posts?"
Did you ever think he might be a little busy tying up loose ends and getting the story out to the right people?

"Full Metal Jacket". I don't remember them using it in "Apocalypse", and I was in grade school when the war ended.

"Not "dishonorable." It's "Other than Honorable." Big difference. Not that it should matter, but that may be one of their talking points if this pans out"
Well when you play sKerry's "reporting for duty" clips and "I fought in Vietnam" + Less than honorable discharge I would say it would be the same poll killer that Bush got with the DUI - 2 - 4 points. Checkmate, gameover.

the former secretary of the Navy would be W. Graham Claytor.
Googled it up & Claytor is dead. 1912-1994

You have to have registered no later than Jan 22, 1998. How about those of us who got lost when the server crashed and we had to re-register ?
Oh well, guess I'll always be a newbie.

I don't believe the person exists.
If they did, why not be out there telling the truth earlier when this was made a big issue?
Why wait till now to open their mouth?
As much as I like the Swift guys, this is not one that makes any sense.
If this person existed, they would have surfaced long ago IMO.

I pointed out the thread just to show that the truth is coming out not to substantiate chief's info. Sorry for the confusion. I'm a multitasking housewife who makes too brief of a post sometimes.
Hopefully the swiftvets can put together a video with this person (hopefully with some additional proof) and have it online pronto!

All I know is that if an officer gets anything but Honorable (except Medical) means he/she messed up really, really badly.
If this is indeed true, and they're not parsing "Other than Honorable" to be a Medical discharge or a dismissal, this would be BIG... and NavyChief's use of capitalization doesn't suggest word-parsing.

There is a recent (relatively, as in less than two decades ago) document that asserts an honorable discharge for Ol' Feckless John ... but the original discharge documents are yet to surface.I've seen tantalizing indications of it but no smoking gun. If this rumor is true we'll have that gun.

What's interesting about the FR culture is that oldies and newbies both accept that it takes time to earn some credibility. Old fashioned values. (Not that we aren't polite to polite newbies.)
