HOLY @#%^@#$&!!!! Joe Lockhart was trying to spin the myth that W let UBL escape from Tora Bora and citing retired AF (I think) General McPeak's statements that are negative about the war. Gibson pointed out that Gen. Franks himself has said that Kerry has his facts wrong about the situation in 2001 at Tora Bora.

John Gibson: "Mr. Lockhart, you aren't questioning Gen. Frank's credibility are you?"

Lockhart: "What I'm not doing is questioning Gen. McPeake's credibility...Gen. Franks has had two years to get his story straight about Tora Bora and he's out there doing the President a political favor."

General Merrill McPeak was the senior officer in the Air Force during Desert Storm after his predecessor got fired for saying he "would bomb Saddam and his mistresses" (or something to that effect) He did NOT operationally command during that war but he was a fighter pilot in Vietnam.

McPeak is (arguably) the worst Chief of Staff there ever was, and was obsessed with getting the service pretty new uniforms and almost personally ran the Air Force into the ground. He was then and still is widely ridiculed and reviled for his policies.

General Tommy Franks commanded troops which, in cooperation with our Allies and local insurgents and supported by airpower, toppled a govt and freed people suffering religious persecution all while killing or capturing many Al Queda and keeping them on the run. Remember the MSM and pundits pointing out that both the British and Russians were defeated by the Afghans and that we were going to get slaughtered on the battlefield? Well, after a few weeks, troops on horse and pickup trucks, and airplanes raining bombs down, the Taliban was routed.

Does McPeak have a clue, not a one. Did Franks command victorious troops in two wars, your damn right. When McPeak endorsed Kerry, I knew the President would win.

I used to feel that Lockhart was doing the best he could in a bad situation when he had to spin Bils BS into gold, but he is just plain smarmy. I saw him in that piece and wanted to slap that smirk off his face.

You know it was on John Gibson!'s show Monday I believe that he interview Richard Holbrooke and that was when Holbrooke said that they(Kerry's campaign) didn't really know what happened at AL KaKa - Bush has been using that quote is his speeches ever since to skewer Kerry about blaming the troops without even knowing what happened.

I'd like to see a post election analysis of the impact of Lockhart and the other scumbags from Willie's sewer.

My thesis is that some folks are anti-Bush out personal self-loathing. They lied for Willie and knew he was lying and that they were lying. This burden can never be removed but they can transfer their self-hate to someone else, Bush, and say (internally), "Well, I may be bad but he is so much worse."

And, they have no problem sublimated their self-hatred with hatred for Bush. EXCEPT, every time one of the scumbag Willie sewer dwellers come on, Begala, Lockhart, Lanny, etc., they are reminded of the original stain. I wonder how many of the self-hating crapweasels might realize that, in supporting Kerry, they would be comitting the same crime again and, in the privacy of the voting booth, actually vote for Bush?

These ex-generals (emphasis on the 'ex') are extremely upset and vindictive that Franks' minimal manpower acting with speed approach was a demonstrative unqualified success in both Afghanistan and Iraq. If they had had their way, we would have had 2 to 3 times the number of ground troops and magnitudes greater casualties. They can't take it that Tommy was right and knew what he was doing.

sKerry has called Viet Nam vets guilty of all kinds of atrocities in front of Congress.
