Yeah. I'm not saying Badnarick is the answer to all problems. His immigration policies are flawed but then again who in public office isn't. Unless they are saying "I will seal borders 100%" then they are saying the wrong things. I know Badnarick defends the border vigilantes in AZ while most GOP office holders are doing more to shut them down than the illegals.

Too late for that, by decades.

Absolutely correct, sir.

America under Kerry is cancer raging untreated, America under Bush is cancer treated with Band-Aids and Bactine.

I'm a small "l"ibertarian who is voting for Bush, but I expect our country to collapse by 2030 all the same.

I appreciate the article but I will still be voting for Badnarick.

If I'm understanding your home page correctly, you were born in 1984. I was born in 1964. I did what you are about to do when Dole was running against Clinton (after having voted for Clinton the first time, God forgive me!). I lived through the erasure of freedoms and libertarian principles under Clinton. If there is a Pres. Kerry, trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet.

If you will look, you will see the progression of my political wisdom from voting for Clinton, to voting Libertarian (Browne), to having early voted for Bush. If you vote for Badnarik, and Kerry wins, you will gain this same wisdom. Please save yourself the heartache (and our country as well), and pay heed to what the man in the article says. The stakes in this election could not be higher. There may not be a country to try to sway to Libertarian principles if Kerry wins. Kerry and his ilk are nothing more than communists in liberal clothing.

"All of these 'critics' of yours should direct their anger at the Fat and Lazy and Bloated Big Government republicans for raising Education spending by 40% and passing a huge trillion dollars Medicaid bill."

I hope youre not referring to my comments above. Read them again...I never gave a blanket endorsement of any political party or agenda...Im talking about survival here.

I agree...the Republican party needs a cleansing process ...that will come in time, rest assured.

" I will still be voting for Badnarick."

I am a Libertarian... I will be voting for Bush. Why would you vote for Badnarick when he is not going to fight our enemy?

I will be changing back to a Republican soon. By not fighting our enemy we are just asking to die.

And your credentials to sway people to your side are????

I haven't tried to sway anyone to my side on this thread, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

"And the pretend conservatives think they can get votes by calling people names."

Your demonstrated decorum and respect for others opinions has been duly noted.

no, I was collectively referring to the 5-6 comments, not yours in particular. Yea, I agree a cleansing is needed, the libertarian threat keeps them on their toes. I've noticed Conservatives will 'steal' the popular platforms of the libertarian party. Which is fine by me, steal all of it!

I understand your view. But my view is nothing is as important as our civil liberties .NOTHING. The republicrats seem to think the Bill of Rights & constitution is a suggestion open for dicussion. It's not. Terrorist can take lives but they can never take away our freedom. Only politicians can.

No it won't.

The primaries are nothing more than infomercials. Candidates speakers and platforms are chosen before hand behind closed doors by the party powerful, then presented for a made-for-tv politburo style pep-rally vote to primary delegates.

If any primary delegate so much as makes a peep during the convention against the official party line, they are removed from the convention. If they protest outside, they are beaten and arrested.

The only method left you have for cleaning house is an outright revolt of your electorate come fundraising and election time.

If you have a better idea, and can explain exactly how and why it will work, I'd love to hear it.

This is strange. For the past few years on Free Republic, many have been telling me the libertarian vote meant nothing. Everyone sure is fired up about libertarians not voting Republican now, though. It's interesting that Republicans don't court our vote, but they still expect it. And when we don't immediately comply, we get blistering negative rants from them. I guess our vote is important after all.

I support any libertarian who votes Republican. I support any libertarian who votes libertarian. Vote the way that you want. No vote is ever wasted. By the "wasted vote" logic, any vote for someone other than the winning candidate is wasted. I don't buy it.

"If you have a better idea, and can explain exactly how and why it will work, I'd love to hear it."

I dont have any concrete answers as to how to build a party or movement. If I said I did, I would be pretentious at best. Everything that follows is just IMHO...and Im not a political guy so I may be all wet on this.

What I do know is that you need a popular issue...that common people can relate to...and then its old fashioned walking the streets to start. You use this to gauge your support and fine tune your message. It sounds calculating...yes it is I believe.

Next, you need money...lots of it. The Swift Vets got a bundle by appealing to people by virtue of initial media exposure...then internet and book presence.

Finally, you will need the support of some connected people...who agree with you philosophically, and have additional money and media presence.

Its a long tough road. Thats why its feasable starting at the state and local levels..then congressional level.
