XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX MON OCT 25 2004 22:45:05 ET XXXXX
NBCNEWS: CACHE OF EXPLOSIVES VANISHED FROM SITE IN IRAQ BEFORE TROOPS ARRIVED...
The NYTIMES urgently reported on Monday in an apprent October Surprise: The Iraqi interim government and the U.N. nuclear agency have warned the United States that nearly 380 tons of powerful conventional explosives are now missing from one of Iraq's most sensitive former military installations.
[The source behind the NYT story first went to CBSNEWS' 60 MINUTES last Wednesday, but the beleaguered network wasn't able to get the piece on the air as fast as the newspaper could print. Executive producer Jeff Fager hoped to break the story during a high-impact election eve broadcast of 60 MINS on October 31.]
Looks like an interesting book, thanks!
..and Horowitz is a former leftist radical; even better.
I think I'm all alone here. Oh well, time to get some sleep and dream about tomorrow's news!
Are you still talking to yourself?
And thank YOU, Al Gore, for inventing the internet.
Bed is where I am heading!

Won't change a thing.
This comment from the DUmmies is precious
So what's up? Either Drudge and CNN are (gasp!) full of #$%@, or the IAEA, today's earlier newsies who broke the original story and, unfortunately, John Kerry are in for some embarrassment of major proportions. Or maybe there's a gray middle ground. I mean what needs to be pinned down is exactly when these special explosives were documented as there, or as having been there, and when our troops arrived, etc. Should be pretty simple to establish whether they were truly left unguarded by coalition forces or were already gone before they arrived as Drudge and the mysterious, yet-to-be-posted-on-MSNBC report **attributed to** NBC embedded reporters asserts.
This is one of those crazy things that could help swing an election IMO. I think Kerry will be resented if it turns out he was smacking Bush without justification on this one...and Bush will be smacked if it turns out this latest Drudge twist on the story is repug spin. The plot thickens... if I hadn't just seen "Bush's Brain" I would say Karl Rove couldn't possibly have...nah, never mind!
(forgive me from this but we all need a laugh don't we?)
Getting ready to watch Don Imus -- don't ask me why -- MSNBC is still touting the munitions dump as real news. I don't suppose they will have an opportunity to correct this non-story before next Tuesday. So little time, so many bogus anti-Bush stories to get on the airwaves.
Here's hoping the MSM has so little credibility left after November 2 that they will not be a factor in '08.
I expect a minimum of one well-coordinted "October Surprise" story per day on the war on terror and/or Iraq until November 2nd. Based on the polls, Kerry doesn't need any media assistance on domestic issues but his CIC credentials remain weak.
The Bush campaign better be ready. This 18-month old story about 380 tons of "missing" explosives is the tip of the iceberg.
Boy, oh boy! What a great ping to this revelation! Any suggestions as to how I can skip sleeping and join the night shift freepers? LOL
Who shopped the story? The Kerry campaign? This smells just like the phony TANG story they fed to CBS, and it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the connection between the DNC and the MSM. This is the point the Bush campaign ought to be hammering home today. It may be a deterent to more lies coming up this weekend when the left will really be getting desperate.
Throw this dud hand grenade out and see who picks it up..the New York Times....no surprise there.....
