XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX MON OCT 25 2004 22:45:05 ET XXXXX
NBCNEWS: CACHE OF EXPLOSIVES VANISHED FROM SITE IN IRAQ BEFORE TROOPS ARRIVED...
The NYTIMES urgently reported on Monday in an apprent October Surprise: The Iraqi interim government and the U.N. nuclear agency have warned the United States that nearly 380 tons of powerful conventional explosives are now missing from one of Iraq's most sensitive former military installations.
[The source behind the NYT story first went to CBSNEWS' 60 MINUTES last Wednesday, but the beleaguered network wasn't able to get the piece on the air as fast as the newspaper could print. Executive producer Jeff Fager hoped to break the story during a high-impact election eve broadcast of 60 MINS on October 31.]
Am I dreaming this?
And they don't like us looking over their shoulder! A new era has dawned & they don't "get it"!
Dan didn't break this story. LOL! He had no choice but to run with it tonight.
Since the NYT story is turning out to be a big fat nothing (via NBC's info), CBS should be breathing a sigh of relief that they dodged a bullet. "Breaking" two debunked anti-Bush stories in a row would have completely trashed the program.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH..........you might say there is......to the Democrat Party!!!
For just a minute there, I was PROUD of NBC for covering this story. When it comes down to it, what do they have to gain by running with this? Nothing - but it certainly means they have stepped in to uphold the honor of our boys who arrived to find the goods gone. The same boys THEY were embedded with during this war...
Could it be that there is someone with journalistic ethics left in this world?
i think it was hans

'60 Minutes' devotes hour to Clinton book
Rather will interview former president
By GAIL SHISTER
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Richard Nixon didn't rate one. Neither did Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, nor either of the George Bushes.
So why is CBS's "60 Minutes" devoting an unprecedented full hour to former President Clinton on June 20?
"To me, it was an easy call," said new "60" executive producer Jeff Fager. "This guy just wrote 957 pages, and he's a very interesting and controversial figure. He's got a lot to say."
It will be Clinton's first interview about the eagerly awaited "My Life" (Knopf), which comes out June 22.
There will be no restrictions on lines of questioning by "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather, a "60" alum and "60 Minutes II" contributor, Fager said. Rather snared the big get.
Rather did "60 II" sit-downs with Clinton when he was president in March '99 and December '00, as well as a piece for "60" in August '96, according to Fager, formerly a "60 II" exec producer.
"Dan's been pushing for this story, and he got it. There's a comfort level there. I think Clinton trusts him. I think he respects him."
In 36 seasons under legendary Don Hewitt, "60" never offered a full hour to anyone.
Heh, heh, I hope G.W. uses this in his speeches this week!!!
The "shopped story" connection doesn't exactly let Rather off the hook.
I wish it were Chris Lehane or Tad Devine.
I think I love you.
Yeah, but now the NYT gets credit for being the first to roll out a false story. Dan can say "Hey, the NYT reported it first".
He should be prosecuted for treason!
>>Drudge reports that 60 Minutes wanted to report this garbage on election eve!
cBS must be livid!
Slime-bombs backfire if used too soon before election day!
Well, yeah, with that reply, it might take the heat off of Rather.
the mutant twins.......that would be awesome..lol
KFI Radio in LA's hourly newscast played both Kerry and Edwards soundbites then informed listeners that CNN and Drudge are reporting the story is false and "appears to be politcally motivated."
David Cassiday, is that you? :-)
Why do you think you love me????
