Serious subject. Here's something to make you smile.
:)
A Catholic priest and a rabbi are sitting next to each other on an airplane.
After a while the priest turns to the rabbi and asks, "Is it still a requirement of your faith that you not eat pork?"
The rabbi responds, "Yes, that is still one of our beliefs."
The priest then asks, "Have you ever eaten pork?"
To which the rabbi replies, "Yes, on one occasion I did succumb to temptation and tasted a ham sandwich."
The priest nodded in understanding and went on with his reading.
A while later, the rabbi spoke up and asked the priest, "Father, is it still a requirement of your church that you remain celibate?"
The priest replied, "Yes, that is still very much a part of our faith."
The rabbi then asked him, "Father, have you ever fallen to the temptations of the flesh?"
The priest replied, "Yes, rabbi, on one occasion I was weak and broke with my faith."
The rabbi nodded understandingly. He was silent for about five minutes, and then he said, "Beats a ham sandwich, doesn't it?"
A really great writing!
Thanks for a good article and a big fat AMEN
This is an excellent article. Thanks
My favorite on this issue is entitled "Was Jesus a Liberal?" by Selwyn Duke.
http://www.intellectualconservative.com/article2925.html
Well Done! Even if a liberal were able to remove the "negative " aspects of liberalism, the positive aspects of this belief system still cannot be justified before God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.
Correct answer: Yes.
The author disingenously defines both "Christian" and "liberal" so narrowly that he gets his desired answer by definition, not by truth.
In truth, both Christianity and liberalism cover such broad ranges that overlap does exist.
The author is playing the same childish game as Hillary Clinton was when she said in a 02/06/97 CNN interview, "I have to confess it has crossed my mind that you could not be a Republican and a Christian."
This rhetorical game is unfortunately so common that it has been recognized by being given its own name: No true Scotsman.
Thankyou and Godbless!
a bit of humor is what we all need at this point,so here goes.
a very wealthy catholic had a dog he was very fond of.
the animal became ill,and after extensive examination, the dog was determined to be terminal. The man contacted his Bishop for a meeting. He brought the dog with him and asked the Bishop to heal the dog. The Bishop responded that he knew nothing about animal medicine. The man then said to the Bishop, "I'll give the Church $100,000.00" The Bishop responded, "That's different. I didn't realize the dog was Catholic."
My Bible says accept Christ as your Savior and be born again.
Noting about politics at all except, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's..."
I don't believe God the Father will bar a person with Christ in his or her heart from Heaven because they didn't vote the republican party line all their life!
JEEZ....
Jesus isn't a relativist.
ALL liberals are relativists.
The point is, if you support abortions, gay marriages and the like, you are not in keeping with the church. If you feel differently...brush the dust off your Bible!
"At church yesterday I told someone that you can't be a Christian and a Democrat. It resulted in quite an interesting argument. That may not be politically correct but I believe it to be true."
Whoa, that may be a little too strong. I would never say a Christian cannot be a democrat. I would, however, question why someone who claims to be a Christian would be a democrat considering the party's stands. Although I am a conservative evangelical Christian and currently Republican. I would never equate being republican with being Christian. It just so happens that for the present, the Republican party - at least in writing - is most close to my beliefs.
If pro-aborts & pro-homosexuals became a majority in the Republican party - I would bail in a heart beat. No party has a lock on morality.
i scanned the article, but it seemed to miss one important fact. god expects the fruit of good deeds from those he has bestowed his grace upon. big gov't promises to bring "heaven on earth" by making everything equal. when we rely on big gov't to solve social problems, we fail to take the step to help our fellow man, and we miss out on the many blessings of being god's conduit. the sad fact is that big gov't gets in the way of our relationship with god.
