While at DU I discovered the following:
I learned this morning that tomorrow morning's edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer will endorse George Bush for a second four-year term. What makes this particularly disgraceful and quite terrifying is that the seven-member editorial board of the PD voted 5-2 to endorse John Kerry. The publisher overruled them and announced the paper would support Bush. Similarly, the Lorain Journal editors were told that either they endorse George Bush or they endorse no one. So, they are endorsing no one.
Let us e-mail letters of support at letters@plaind.com
Rumor already posted by Petronski.
Yea well if the Kerryites at the Plain Dealer don't like it they have the same 1st Amendment rights as the publisher to start their own newpaper Cry me a river
The PD hates Bush. The publisher needs to fire a few communists and take control of its newspaper.
PD endorse Bush? I'll believe it when I see it.
So did it happen???
I keep checking the PD site and no sign of it. Maybe the endorsement comes _next_ Sunday, a mere 2 days before E-day?
What I posted was from DU. I hope it does happen.
I'm so sick of liberals using this line, as if journalists and editors are some sort of superior and protected class of human beings. The publisher owns the paper, and has every right to make final decisions. If the editorial board doesn't like it, they're free to go start their own newspaper.
