I don't get it, these 2 guys out of the whole conference are going to call out Bush/Cheney. Who are they? Nobody I bet (or k-wad staffers). Do they expect this to be shattering or scathing? Is this the best they can do to try to counter the Catholics (like me) who despise k-wad and are supporting Bush?

Fortunately, the actual "Letter of Complaint" is the standard Michael Moore-type bunk. This is merely a group of Christians who can't understand the real issues nor the truth behind what's happened (they claim the president misled us on the war, attacked a sovereign country, etc.--what was said was as true as humanly knowable (and Saddam broke the ceasefire agreement many times before) and Iraq was never sovereign after the ceasefire from the first war because they were subjugated under US and UN terms).
I do believe Christians need to hold other Christians accountable to Scripture; however, these points are not valid in that light.

We are United Methodists bringing a letter of complaint against United Methodist Church members George W. Bush and Richard "Dick" Cheney for their chargeable offenses of crime, immorality, disobedience to the order and discipline of The United Methodist Church (UMC), and dissemination of doctrine contrary to the established standards of doctrine of The UMC.The church I joined as a youth had nothing bad to say about the sort of middle of the road politics of John F. Kennedy, which is who George W. Bush most resembles. If the church has moved to the political left along with the Democratic Party since then, I recognize no obligation to follow it there. Leftism is simply saying whatever will make you feel superior to the people who actually are expert in the problem you are discussing and therefore understand that simply saying a magic formula will not solve the world's problems overnight.

Why President Bush attends a Methodist church is beyond me. They will suck the spiritual life out of faster than you can say "Dracula". Please President Bush, ask Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell to recommend a church for you to attend.

This is an embarrassment. Especially if you're a Methodist...and I am. I've always been proud to share the same denomination as the President. Unfortumately, their statement is not a surprise to me because people in nat'l leadership positions have been trending left for quite awhile now. How can we let them know they don't speak for us??

Well you are a bunch of mentally ill sKerry supporting Dimorats. You evidently don't have clue if your supporting sKerry. I saw this from some black ministers doing the same thing. Your petition is just another immature made up Dimmorat plan that will not work. I don't think your going to get many sane people to sign your shitty petition. I used to go to the United Methodist Church until they started supporting thing out side the bible. nuf said!

LOL!Probably the same idiots who are trying to boost gay membership.
What diseased souls they are.
Too bad this crap always reflects badly on the UMC. The vast majority would likely lock these maroons out of the church on Sunday.

Mildly amusing coming from people belonging to a denomination that doesn't generally recognize a sin when it sees one: most clear choices between good and evil are "deeply personal decisions." Not, of course, when you're guilty of the sin of being a conservative. Then you get out the old Methodist sermons ("the preacher was opposed to fornicating, because he believed that it might lead to dancing.")
Check out the official web page, and see if you can find any reference to sin anywhere in there.
And of course, let the flaming of Fred begin...

Whoa! This takes my breath away. A denomination that backed the ainti war movement in the 1970's that ordained feminists as priests in the 1980's and that has ordained homosexuals as ministers in 2000 and they are talking about sins that George Bush and Dick Cheney have commited.
The sect was founded by John and Charles Wesley in the 1700's in their day they danced shouted and poeple spoke in other tongues in their meetings -- by 1840 they were so backslidden in England that when William Booth the founder of the salvation army (1869) preached in their churches he was expelled for shouting and daring to wave a hankerchief to make a point in a message.
In the 1970's they joined with the world council of churches -- I wrote extensevely about that in two posts early last summer -- The denomination was taken over by radicals at about the same time that the democratic party was taken over.
