HOUSTON -- President Bush got at least two votes today as early voting got under way in Texasfrom his parents.
The Bushes cast their ballots at the Metropolitan Multiservice Center on West Gray.
Former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush cast ballots at the Metropolitan Multiservice Center on West Gray. They had to wait in line just like everyone else.
I think things are going well, Mrs. Bush said after casting her electronic ballot. We love voting for our son.
Its such an honor and privilege to vote for him, the presidents father added.
The former president said he and his wife plan to do everything they can to help their son win another term, adding that he thought the campaign had gone great.
I think were going to win big, he said.
The former first couple, by choice, stood in line with other voters for about a half-hour. As they waited, other voters greeted them, shook their hands and asked to have photos taken with them.
I pray for your son every day, Jamie Barrere, a Houston real estate agent, told the Bushes, whom she spotted in the line as she was leaving the community center.
I was shocked, she said of the unexpected encounter. I should have put on some makeup.
Barrere said she also voted for the president.
No ones perfect, she said. No one can make the right decision 100 percent of the time. But I think he does what he thinks is right.
As the former first couple emerged outside, a handful of Republican supporters shouted four more years! while some Democrat backers shouted two more weeks!
Mrs. Bush was wearing a jeweled W 04 campaign pin as she entered the center. She took it off before she went into the room that housed about two dozen electronic voting machines, where campaign items are not allowed.
The former president said he and his wife plan to do everything they can to help their son win another term, adding that he thought the campaign had gone great.
I think were going to win big, he said.
You think President Bush's Dad would have the inside scoop on this election?
ping
What else is he gonna say? I hope he's right but come ON, he's the candidate's DAD!
ping
I'd chalk the comment up to simple fatherly pride. Sheesh, reading a bit much into decent kind statements are we?
stop stop you'll jinx it stop stop
he's seen the in house polling as well...
Watch the video...he didn't have to say that!
I don't think so....he was not ask that question...
? Like I said before, its just what a Dad whose son is running would say. No need to get excited.
I'm not....thanks for the advise...just once.
You bet...he's seen it all.
Maybe he was referring to the Astros. ;)
Classy.
I think he was talking about the Astros, really.
The wife and I voted early (absentee) in California....
that makes us old voting shipmates with the Bush's.... Jake
Sounds like THE RATS...doesn't it?
What else is he going to say?
If George H.W. Bush says it, it MUST be true.
"Read my lips: We're going to win big."
