The parents of a 16-year-old boy who was taken off life support after reportedly swallowing cocaine is expected to announce a $50 million lawsuit against the Dearborn Police Department Monday afternoon.

Quantrell Pryor was stopped by Dearborn police Tuesday at Fairlane Mall when officers believed he was in a stolen vehicle, Local 4 reported. The vehicle was not stolen, but Pryor panicked and swallowed cocaine he had in his possession, according to the report.

Pryor's mother said police admitted to seeing her son swallow the cocaine, but he was not taken to the hospital until hours later. The family has hired attorney Arnold Reed to file a wrongful-death lawsuit.

Reed said police took Pryor to the police station where he collapsed. He was taken to a hospital at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and was dead on arrival, but doctors managed to get his heart beating, according to Reed.

Pryor was taken off life support Saturday, according to reports.

If they did see him swallow cocaine and didn't take him to the hospital and kept him in custody, then they should be sued.

Stolen car.

Well, I personally think that the young man is to blame for SWALLOWING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!

Goodness, what a world we live in.

Maybe. I am sure they questioned him as to what he swallowed. If he repeatedly said he did not swallow cocaine then I would cut the cops a great amount of slack. Of course it should be assumed he was lying. But I have little to no sympathy for people who die because of willful engagement in behaviour (legal or illegal).

The point is, they saw him swallow cocaine.

He was in their custody (IE not able to get medical care) and now he's dead.

If they had taken him to a hospital he could have still been put on trial and held accountable for his crimes.

Doesn't that mean his mother aided him in purchasing, and transporting the cocaine? That she knew he had it?

She should be locked up and any remaining children take away from her.

Yea they should've taken him...but if he's an IDIOT for doing that crap in the first place well....Nobody forced him to swallow it and nobody forced him to sell, snort, inject or transport it. It was HIS decision. It's the coke and his stupidity that killed him. I have no sympathy. Case closed.

So if a criminal shoots himself, the police should race him to the hospital, if they don't, they are responsible?

You've got to be joking.

The kid just saved taxpayers 65+ years of costs.

Did they? They may have seen him swallow something, but unless there was a little baggy left with 'cocaine' printed it on it, how were they to know if it was cocaine, skittles or M&Ms?

Yes, indeed, and good riddance. Ensures that our taxes will not be wasted on supporting his spawn that likely would be on welfare, and his future trips to rehab. Harsh? Maybe. Realistic? Absolutely.

1. You nor anyone else has any idea if they did see him swallow any, or how much they saw.
2. Did he ask for medical help? No mention of it.
3. If he hadn't swallowed it, he would still be alive.

Sorry, not into placing blame on LEOs for someone elses blatant stupidity.
