Picking the President: Bush is the best candidate

12:36 AM CDT on Sunday, October 17, 2004

Americans want and need a president with a backbone steeled by courage and a heart tendered by compassion. Not since the beginning of World War II has America faced as much uncertainty about its national security and its economic prospects. The next president must have the firm conviction to persevere against Islamic terrorism and the empathy to give his fellow citizens a helping hand, even as he steadily guides the .....

Four years ago, when the world was much simpler, George W. Bush sought the presidency claiming that he had "a charge to keep." Having been tempered by the most eventful and consequential four years served by any U.S. president since Franklin D. Roosevelt's third term (1941-1945), Mr. Bush has earned the right to hold firm to his charge for another term.

As Mr. Bush told his convention, "You know where I stand."

We do, and we wish we knew where John Kerry stood. To be honest, we wish John Kerry knew where John Kerry stood. The senator has been more clear about his positions lately, particularly on Iraq. But his record of vacillation cannot be overcome in a single campaign. What's more, aside from indulging in the fantasy that he can persuade the Europeans to contribute to the Iraq effort .....

I am floored. The Dallas Morning News has poked and bashed Bush for years.

For them to endorse him ?? I am speechless.

Early voting begins Monday, October 18th. I'll be there at 8 a.m. to cast my vote for Bush.

What's more, aside from indulging in the fantasy that he can persuade the Europeans to contribute to the Iraq effort, Mr. Kerry's Iraq policy is not substantively different from Mr. Bush's. The national security stakes are far too high to risk a return to the indecision of the Carter years.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas ping list!. . .don't be shy.
No, you don't HAVE to be a Texan to get on this list!

This sums up Kerry in a nutshell:

... we wish we knew where John Kerry stood. To be honest, we wish John Kerry knew where John Kerry stood. The senator has been more clear about his positions lately, particularly on Iraq. But his record of vacillation cannot be overcome in a single campaign.

Just remember this is Dallas. W has given a lot to this area as a business owner, the Gov., and as the President.
Just drive near Turtle Creek and Highland Park and all you see is W banners, posters in the yards.
Besides, NO way in hello would they pick a Yankee over a Texan.

They must really dislike Kerry.

Or they may be distressed by their falling sales numbers. In response, they need to pander to the many Republicans in their market.

The DMN endorsed Bush in 2000, also.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, home to Molly Ivins endorsed "The old President Bush" today.

A back-handed slap, but that's expected from that rag.
