Damon, Newman, De Niro and Bing Boost Kerry Fund(Hollywood Left Alert)

Hollywood heavyweights Paul Newman, Steve Bing, Robert De Niro and Matt Damon have boosted Senator John Kerry's presidential campaign as he bids for the White House next month. The Democrat hopeful is currently neck and neck with current US leader George W Bush in the opinion polls in the run-up to polling day on November 2. Over 850 celebrities and businesspeople have contributed to Kerry's campaign fund, of which a recent investigation in New York has revealed Bing, Damon, De Niro and Newman have all given money. Film producer Bing, who famously denied paternity of Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian and was later forced to admit he was the father, has written many cheques to the Democrats of up to $9 million. De Niro has generously contributed $28,800, Kevin Bacon $18,000 and Michael Douglas $15,300. The Bourne Supremacy heart-throb Damon has donated $27,000, while film legend Newman has given $54,000. Chevy Chase, who like Damon has also donated $27,000, fumes, "There's something venal and arrogant about Bush and it drives me up the wall." On Wednesday the Bush camp tried to downplay the celebrity connections and donations the Democrats have received, saying, "The world doesn't revolve around Hollywood."

More Hollywood fat cats mindlessly parroting the party line. Also, is it me or does it seem like some people just have a hate for Bush that borders on psychosis if not crossing the border?

Something "venal and arrogant" about Bush? That is wholly laughable coming from actors in Hollywood.

What's with all this money?? I thought they had to limit spending to the $75 big ones between the convention and the election.

Isn't Steven Bing the guy that knocked up Elizabeth Hurley and then claimed the baby wasn't his?

Film producer Bing, who famously denied paternity of Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian and was later forced to admit he was the father,

Speaking of paternity>>>

If you'd talk to Vanessa Kerry... (who's a live heterosexual)
she would probably say she's glad her father couldn't have her destroyed for stem cell research when she was an embryo, even if she knew her death would have helped his heros Chris or Mike or Max.

Getting harder and harder to find a movie to attend where I don't give money to the enemy.

I love Paul Newman- But I totally hate his political position.

Ninety per cent of the Hollywood left are loudly pro Kerry because they want to keep working.

I think Damon is a punk. Back in Early August I believe it was, he had his new Bourne movie come out and was asked about politics. He gave some now B.S. answer how he wasn't political and gave a "pox on both your houses" response. Then a few weeks and Bourne finishes its box office and Damon is in ads for Dem 527's

I hardly like any of the main stream "stars"...they just dont interest me, nor do their movies/music whatever....

Heh-heh. Kerry does own an assault rifle and a couple shotguns, plus his wife drives an SUV, so Bickle better watch his back.

Hollywood, CA - October 17, 2004 -- Woody Allen joins presidential candidate John Kerry and other celebrities to launch a new Hollywood group, "$¢UM for John F'in Kerry". When questioned on the need for yet another organization of entertainment millionaires supporting this candidacy, Woody replied, "I think the efforts of those groups may have been premature. We however intend to mount our effort for a late surge."

Yep, we are down to old John Wayne movies. I have to confess, I understand them more than some of the trash today.
