Weekly Reader Poll - Coming October 25th! (Vanity)

I had been wondering when the Weekly Reader poll was going to come out, looks like October 25. I for one would be very depressed (no matter what the other polls are saying at the time) if this didn't show Bush as the winner. I fully expect that it will, as I have had several people tell me that their kids conducted "informal" polls in their class and found Bush to be the big winner.

Millions of students are expected to cast a vote in Weekly Reader's presidential poll. Students can vote online, by ballot or by calling toll-free 888-964-2904. Since 1956, students in grades 1 through 12 who participated in Weekly Reader's national poll have correctly chosen the winner of the presidential race every time, making it the oldest and most accurate predictor of presidential elections results. This year's results will be announced the week of October 25.

Wouldn't count on Bush winning Weekly Reader.

Not sure why you are saying that, but it would be worrisome to me at least if he didn't because that is one of the best ways to judge the electorate without other bias. Kids generally parrot what their parents are saying is the assumption.

This year could be dismissed, though, I'm sad to say. The rabid anti-American electorate motivated in 2004 cares VERY LITTLE for the children of the nation. And, like I say, they're rabid. Their points of view, because they are so anti-American, would not be reflected in children's votes--so I can envision a vote where the kids ACCURATELY reflect the majority of parents, but the anti-American and fraudulent votes outnumber them.

The solution is to pray and work for President Bush. Only 16 days left.

My son says the majority of the boys in his class favor Bush and the girls Kerry, go figure.

It doesn't help when you have a teacher who tells the kids that Bush's No Child Left Behind policy has failed and they are now forced to buy their own school supplies because of the presiden'ts cuts. I kid you not. He told me this over the weekend. She makes similar remarks once or twice a week. She was trying to call Kerry and war hero. My son told her war heroes don't come back and turn on their country.

Teachers shouldn't have this type of control IMO. This is why I think the Weekly Reader poll will show teachers bias.

Back in 1960 our school was overwhelmingly for Kennedy. That was because our school was Catholic.

I think you'd have to look at more than just numbers, but what influences the numbers, before you give the poll any validity.

I agree that Weekly Reader was once a good indicator, but the Dems are aware of that fact and can hit the call-in number to skew the result. The Dems can not let momentum build or their fringe base will be demoralized. The core never is.

The only poll that matters is the only one that can be reasonably relied upon (and even that point is arguable, i.e. the November 2 general election. Dems don't forget you vote on November 3rd.

The on-line poll is different from the one conducted in the classrooms. The liberlas attacking the on-line poll does not penetrate family conversations.

Let's wait and see what the kids have to say. After all, they tend to reflect what they hear from their parents around the dinner table - that's why it has always been such an accurate predictor.
