Fox & Friends Weekend More Watchable with Mike Gallagher Subbing for Julian Phillips
Fox & Friends Weekend

Posted on 10/16/2004 5:40:02 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

I guess we can all thanks Purdue University. Because of its staging of homecoming activities this weekend, the unbearable Julian Phillips, a Boilermaker alum, chose to take the day off from his role of co-host of the weekend edition of Fox & Friends.

In his place is radio talk show host Mike Gallagher. Mike is far from my favorite - I see him as something of a third-rate Rush wannabe. But even so, the show is bearable with him on the set. I often find Julian Phillips literally unwatchable.

Your thoughts?

I love Mike. I don't like Julian. Mike fills in for Linda Vestor from time to time. He is funny and interesting. I like Mike a lot. :)

Obviously we think a great deal alike. I'm listening from another room, and just the absence of his voice is a huge improvement.

"Meanwhile, the undecideds are not budging."

Right on. The difference between night and day.

Gallagher is great, and the weird Julian is so self conscious it's hard to watch!

Well for one thing I don't think Mike went to Purdue.

At least in the few minutes I've watched this morning it hasn't been mentioned 7 or 8 times.

Juan Williams gets the off button in this house, the mute button isn't strong enough for him. He is the reason I quit watching Fox and Friends on weekends. I turn it on to watch the news on the hour/half hour and noticed he was not on so I left it on today. Could they have found a bigger loser to put on weekends?

Right! Phillips is odd and needs to be gone.

Don't want to pick a fight over Mike: as said, I'd much rather have him on the show in place of Julian.

But even so, I'd be interested to hear what it is about him that you like. I find him to be extremely self-centered, boring listeners with details of his home remodeling and other factoids from his suburban life. He strikes me as something of the true blowhard that critics of Rush would falsely accuse him of being.

An empty chair would be more challenging than a race baiting Phillips. I stopped watching on weekends because
of that idiot.

Agreed. Mike Gallagher is an excellent mix of intelligence, ideology, and attitude, whereas Julian is irritating at best.

Still, I think FFW is always watchable, at least when Juliett Huddy's on.

Barf. I can't stand FOX on the weekends. Wish I'd tuned in this morning with Mike. Getting rid of both Julian and the dirty old man whatshisface would do wonders for their weekend ratings.

As the French would say, Julian is not comfortable in his own skin, and that makes me, and apparently many other viewers, uncomfortable too.

The question is, why does Fox keep him? Surely they must be inundated with complaints about him, and their own research must show he has a low 'Q' rating.

I suspect that Fox is treading lightly for fear of being accused of prejudice should they fire Julian.

Your thoughts?

Funny you should ask!

F&F Weekend is unwatchable, but I had it on this morning for a little while, and considered emailing Fox to suggest they give Mike Gallagher the third chair.

If you'd like to catch Mike, the show is still on for a few more minutes.
