Oh, I forgot to add. Another trick that Kerry is using is this. Bush extended unemployment benefits. Everyone who applied for that extension was counted again as unemployed. So each person was ONE unemployed, for the first filing and a SECOND unemployed after filing for the extension.
This doesn't flub the "number of jobs lost" numbers, but it certainly skews the "jobless claims" and "unemployed" numbers.
Assume we start with 100 people.
Half have jobs.
The population grows 50% to 150 people.
Half have jobs.
There are now 75 people without jobs.
Net loss of jobs in Ratspeak.
More jobs than ever before in reality.
Irrelevant in either case.
People who have lost jobs, and started their own businesses are not counted in the labor report. Pres. Bush said in the third debate that there has been an enormous increase in small businesses. That makes a big difference in the labor report.
Nonetheless, the unemployment rate is only 5.4 or 5.5 which is lower than during the Clinton regime when the MSM were saying how wonderful that figure is.
Like the school lunch cuts? I get it. Thanks.
I'm sorry Jonah. I don't know what language this is supposed to be, but it certainly is not English. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that these scribblings were meant to be meaningful, I am at a total loss trying to parse this into meaningful statements. The standards at NR have plummeted since WFB left active editorialship.
very quick and glib reply. not very accurate, though.
I just do not get this!! John Kerry is a boring, condescending DRONE when he talks!! I cannot even stand to listen to the man, so there's no way I'd even hear what he had to say.
Calvin Coolidge had two things Kerry lacks: integrity and a sense of humor. (He liked to play practical jokes.)
Every time I hear sKerry say " I have a plan" , I scream at the TV or Radio:
"Custer had a plan, too"!!!!!
Is that what he is going to tell leaders of nations all around the world if he gets into the White House? "I have a plan".
This sounds like McGiver on a global scale.....
W won the last 2 debates. I don't care what the polls say. Dems aren't honest enough to EVER admit that "dumb" Bush could possibly beat Kerry in a debate.
I saw these debates. Bush won.
Democrats in general only want to count people who are on a "payroll", drawing a check signed by someone else. Self-employed persons like myself are NOT counted in their methods. In the past years, many more people are going into business for themselves, so sKerry counts them as people who have "Lost" their jobs. The fact that we "found" a new method of supporting ourselves, doesn't count for sKerry and the Democrats.
"Poverty" levels are also formulated to not count ANYONE who is NOT on a payroll. Goes back to Johnson and his GREAT WAR ON POVERTY....
Hence, self-employeds, trust fund babies, and even Thereza Heinz Kerry are considered "Poverty level" persons in the USA. I have a real hard time looking at Thereza and her 5 or 6 homes and considering her "poverty-stricken".
Oh, I forgot to add. Another trick that Kerry is using is this. Bush extended unemployment benefits. Everyone who applied for that extension was counted again as unemployed. So each person was ONE unemployed, for the first filing and a SECOND unemployed after filing for the extension.

I thought sKerry accused Bush last night of NOT extending the unemployment benefits.
Which is it? You may be correct, I may have heard it wrong. sKerry makes me so mad when he starts his moaning, I start to not concentrate.
LOL - didn't need to read any further.
Just give kerry a double dose of Preparation-H!
I almost splattered my monitor reading that line.
Not glib - concise - and accurate as to the claims of the left.
It's the democrat's claim that a net loss of jobs has occurred because the population has increased and the corresponding number of jobs hasn't kept pace.
It's a lot more complicated than that but I answered the question that was asked. I didn't address the whole issue because that wasn't the point.
