I hope this is good
Yes maam, LOL!
McGovern sponsored some of Kerry and Hanoi Jane's activities in the VVAW!
the Sun is up
By in the "know" did that mean they were certain, or does it mean they have merely seen some indications of it?
Ha. I just answered that. I am too slow! :)

Yeap, the story is up. You have to pay for it though...
I'm signing up.
The page is up, I see no story and I see the full front page.
I can't recall the name of the book about the bombings in Madison, Wisconsin...at the University. There was a lot going on back then but the history might help you put more recent stuff into better context. There were riots all over the place. They burned the Bank of America at the University Santa Barbara/Isla Vista Riots. There were riots at Kent State University. Berkeley was a hotbed of demonstration and rioting. There was a lot of violence and turmoil.
Please see above...

Its at the bottom under where it says "National".
Maybe the terminology was different back then, but I'm pretty sure he got his early release from active duty (a lot of officers got that back then as there were a ton of them clogging up the officer lists at the junior level) and then went into what we call the Individual Ready Reserve, which is different from the Selected Reserve.
The IRR has no drill requirements, and the Selected Reserve (SELRES) has 11 drill weekends a year. In a drill weekend, you have four 4-hour periods, each counting for a drill day, for which the member receives a full day's pay.
In order to get a "good year", you need those 4 hour periods, which convert into points, and you also have to have an officer correspondence course or two, PLUS 2 weeks of ACDUTRA - active duty for training. Even then, failure to make a "good year" only causes an extension of a further year in the SELRES, barring permission to make up those points or an excusal by the Chief of Naval Reserve Personnel(CNAVRESPERS).
Kerry would have had to totally blow off every drill period for any time that he was obligated in the SELRES and then refused all chances at regaining points, in order for him to have his ultimate Discharge Certificate reflect a General classification. Not impossible, but there would have been a papertrail from his reserve unit Commanding Officer, much like Bush had all those reams of reserve paperwork following him around.
Like I said, I don't think he was ever in the SELRES. If he got a General, it was for the reasons I stated earlier.
Bump for the dawn's early light.
I get the impression that the film may not show anything conclusive or just that Kerry was there which we already know. If it is earth shattering they don't want to show it too early, otherwise Kerry's spin doctors would have enough time to try to convince people not to believe what they just saw and totally discredit the source. Both take time, at least a week. If it is significant, expect them to hit Kerry with it when he needs it the least.
Look at the bottom of the page on the NYSun website --
"Mystery Surrounds Kerry's Navy Discharge."
