The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Ramadan terror concerns?
Full Story

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

"I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat."

Just a reminder folks....Lunar Eclipse Wed Oct 27

According to folklore, October's full moon is called the "Hunter's Moon" or sometimes the "Blood Moon." It gets its name from hunters who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead. You can picture them: silent figures padding through the forest, the moon overhead, pale as a corpse, its cold light betraying the creatures of the wood.

The Blood Moon rises this year on Wednesday, Oct. 27th. At first it will seem pale and cold, as usual. And then ... blood red.

It's a lunar eclipse. Beginning at 9:14 p.m. EDT (6:14 p.m. PDT), the moon will glide through Earth's shadow for more than three hours. Observers on every continent (map) except Australia can see the event: The pale-white moon will turn pumpkin orange as it plunges into shadow, becoming eerie red during totality.

Bump to private Christian schooling. After reading these types of articles, I know that our family has chosen wisely.

Thanks for the reminder....I recall someone posting this earlier this month, but I had forgotten that it is coming to pass next week. This coinciding with the moon worshippers holy month is cause to pay attention.

Cindy thank you for this link in post 1097.

Of course the tie to the arab money.

Hazel Leary, isn't she the person who screwed up the Los Alamos Lab, took away the security clearances, etc?

Does the Gore/Clinton and arab connection, with Hazel in the middle furnish a leak to the needed info to make a nuclear bomb?

A couple months ago, Dr. Bill Wattenberg, said that any country who could build the equal of a VW Bug, from scratch, could also build a nuclear bomb.

The two require about the same amount of engineering ability.

He still says that if they do not have the nuclear bomb now, they will in the next 5 years.

That could just about cause my head to explode.

But then again, I'm sure all the kids in those classes have ALREADY memorized the 10 Commandments, learned the Lord's Prayer, read the Bible and sing every day "Jesus Loves Me" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus" and "Amazing Grace", right???

HAHA LOL--if it wasn't so serious, it WOULD be funny. It's times like these I thank God that we live in a little town that might be "behind" in some ways, but at least doesn't do this crap.

The sad part is the kids that might be converted and therefore go to . . . well, let's just say they won't be spending eternity where I will be.

Thank you and so glad it was no injuries.

Someone's Angel was on duty.

Poor God, he has to be in so many places, all at the same time.

I have lots of rural area around my home in Pocatello, Idaho. The areas beyond the range of DSL and cable service are using 802.11b with high gain antennas at the present time. The WiMax and 802.16 hardware is on the way. That provides a 30 mile radius with 70 megabits/second service. That's a big footprint with high bandwidth. Cheap to deploy and no interference to existing services.

In regards to the story of China amassing troops along the North Korean border.

Unfortunately I've been off line for a while, so nothing current, but have noted since I've been back that Chinese buildup along the N. Korean border persists in media reporting.

Probably the most interesting paragraph from this article was this one:

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The most explosive of Ed Gabriel's many explosive contacts may be with the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein. In late 1993 or early 1994, TAS has learned, a Gabriel associate named Tracy Chamoun, along with Lebanese businessman Charles Chidiac, approached Iraq's U.N. ambassador Nizar Hamdoon with an indelicate proposition. According to one of the participants, as well as other sources with knowledge of the meeting, the pair told Hamdoon they were so plugged into the Clinton administration they could "guarantee" a lifting of the U.N. oil embargo on Iraq. Chamoun's lobbying partner in this effort, the sources said, was to be Edward M. Gabriel himself. The asking price for this very special service: $5 million! The Iraqi ambassador reportedly laughed off Chamoun's presumptuousness and dismissed the offer out of hand. Conveniently for Gabriel, Chamoun's husband told us she was out of the country and could not be reached for several weeks -- perhaps not until after Gabriel's confirmation hearing? That is, if Jesse Helms ever puts it on the calendar."

"Kenneth R. Timmerman is the publisher of Iran Brief and a frequent contributor to The American Spectator."

I think this is a case of people covering themselves in case an attack doesn't occur before the election. I seem to recall Tom Ridge saying earlier in the year that there were "multiple credible sources" of threat reporting. I think the Homeland Security department knows that it will be accused of "hyping the threat" to somehow rally support for Bush.
