I told my husband at dinner when the talking heads were saying how coached Kerry is for this: he has a short fuse and if W can get him mad... he'll lose it and then people will see the REAL Kerry.. keep it up W!!!

The draft.
Bush: I hear there's rumor on the internet we're going to have a draft. WE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE A DRAFT. An all volunteer army is best suited to fight a war in this world. We don't need mass armies anymore. We are transforming our military. Moving troops out of Korea and replacing them with more effective weapons. We don't need as many men on Korean peninsula as we used to need. Those days are over with. We're moving troops out of Europe.
We're withdrawing manpower so they can be stationed here in America, more rotations, more likely to keep people in the all volunteer Army. Interesting technologies...unmanned vehicles.

> Did Bush rope a dope Kerry with the first debate? I was wondering the same thing; I posted a comment asking if anyone thought Bush threw the first debate. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1232070/posts?page=74#74
To set up Lurch -- in foreign policy, the area where Dubya has a lot of wiggle room -- it would have been positively KarlRoveian! (new substitute for Machiavellian)

Another missed opportunity. It's not enough to say there won't be a draft, he should have said that it was a SCARE tactic!
