Early Thursday morning, a car blew up near a home in Weehawken, New Jersey.
Authorities say the victim appeared to be sitting in the driver's seat when the car exploded in front of 76 Hackensack Plank Road just before 7:00 a.m.
People nearby say they heard a loud explosion and saw a large, dark plume of smoke shoot up from the car. The blast was powerful enough to blow out nearby car windows, and it sent debris flying onto nearby homes.
Authorities say the blast may be tied to some sort of ongoing domestic dispute.
"It's my understanding - initially, preliminarily - that it's a domestic dispute of some type," said state police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Rehmann said. "There's evidence that there may have been explosives involved."
The explosion happened on a winding road, near homes overlooking the Lincoln Tunnel. Authorities stress it was not in any way related to terrorism.
Firefighters put out the flaming car and taped off the street to investigate.
If you can't take the heat, stay out of the car.
NJ version of an old saying.
And if the bomb was under the seat, the last thing that went through his mind was his a$$...
LOL!
I think its a good idea to pin this on arab terrorists.
Yeah, Manson Family.
Police are now saying that witnesses heard this guy shout something just before detonations. It is believed he shouted "I SAID 'BUD LIGHT'!"
Near the Lincoln Tunnel makes it suspect. Would not be the first time a car bomb went off prematurely. Awaiting further news.

PING.........
Wouldn't suspect the Muslims unless this happened in Paterson, Clifton or JC.
absolutely precious!
BTW: A month before I left Bay Ridge, there was a shoot out in broad daylight in front of Amici's restaurant. Another "family" dispute...

More cell pockets than that. Those are just the ones that have been in the news.
Don't forget, most of the IDs from the 19 came from New Brunswick.
Here's an update:
"Authorities have discounted initial suspicions that the blast was related to a domestic dispute, Rehmann said."

Rehmann?
That isn't the FBI mole with a criminal background that assisted in getting the 'fake' missile through the seaport from Russia is it?
>>>Sgt. Kevin Rehmann
Ok, no it is not. Same last name though.
Anybody see a missile-like object flying towards the car? ;)
Yes, but hollowpoint bullets are illegal and should not be kept in the home or car.
Are authorities saying that "terrorism" is only "terrorism" when it involves middle-eastern males between the ages of 17 and 45? Also, it appears as though, according to past news stories of "domestic crime", that this also involved a Weapon of Mass Destruction.
Which brings up the question, is a bomb a WMD only when it's in the United States? Case in point, a high school kid in our area was found with 6 pipe bombs in his car trunk and he was charged with 6 counts of possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction. By that definition it would seem that WMDs are all over Iraq.
