After-debate discussion here!
Was it only me or did anyone else get tired of Edwards trying to make points really clear? He sounded like he thought he was talking to a really dumb jury. I found it very irritating.
I think they'll go with the old tired line about how Dick Cheney is the Prince of Darkness, the dour, nasty evil old man who can do nothing but try to tear down the "relentlessly sunny optimism and vigor" of Edwards.
The man is an absolute dolt and fits in very well at the Kennedy School of Dolts at Harvard.
What we learned tonight:
Dick Cheney is an accomplished public figure and capable of being President tomorrow.
Edwards is . . . not.
Absolute class.
"Edwards: Gloom, doom, negative."
You're right. I can not recall Edwards saying a single positive thing.
"The Dems don't mention that do they?
I'm amazed that Cheney didn't mention it!
Edwards' comment about America's bright light flickering was reminiscent of Carter's malaise speech! Same smarminess, it's all your fault, yada yada yada. Get out the hankies. Edwards tried to come across as your pal, your friend who'll fight for you as long as you line his pocket. He looked and sounded like a trial lawyer, like a used car salesman...same thing. Lawyers are loathed by Americans for very good reasons, and picking Edwards was just plain dumb. He didn't do Kerry any good tonight, just reminded America why we hate lawyers.
be interesting what school they learned math at...
lol
Any Fox News snap poll yet?
CBS has Edwards winning in a landslide; ABC has Cheney bigtime.
He made a big mistake doing this, even in the way he presented it. You could tell he thought he was making points outing his daughter. A lot of swing voters will take note of this, beyond this, it was way over the top.
Yep. This "accomplished trial lawyer" has never heard of the constitution's "full faith and credit" clause.
The Corner on NRO is pretty pathetic tonight with about half of the cornerites calling the debate a draw. How can anyone who watched this slaughter consider it a draw? I have noticed a rather pessimistic pattern on NRO of late, but this is rediculous
heads up: Dennis Miller on Leno show tonight!
Also Matt Stone and TRey PArker will be on to promote TEAM AMERICA!
"Brian Williams on MSNBC has been really good on getting the "real" facts out; I just heard him say that it wasn't a "no bid" -- it was a "nobody else can bid" because nobody else can do the job Halliburton does and that the job required."
Except Schlumberger...
IS CBS using internet or push poll? No way Edwards could have won this in a normal polling group.
While we were watching the debate the DU trolls (realizing they had lost) went ahead and trashed the polls. Doesn't matter...internet polls are crap. We freep them and they do whatever their equivalent is making the results totally useless.
I don't know what debate you were watching. Do you think she shouldn't ask any tough question to Cheney? She was equally tough and I was pleasantly surprised.
Some working in 'no benefit' jobs, some working 'off the books', but one of the largest components is kids who are eligible for government funded insurance programs whose parents haven't signed them up.
Their argument isn't about availability of health insurance, it's about free, government provided, health insurance.
Ever since the run-up to 2000, when I heard cheney speak some, I decided I would MUCH rather have him as president than Bush. He is a real conservative, apparently very competent, appears to be good administrator (who knows), and doesn't mince words.
Unfortunately, in the media age of political elections, he is not electable as president.
