This wasn't just a "style over substance" victory, this was an operating room and Cheney was the surgeon. The "this is the first time I met you", and the constant Edwards, "whoops! I broke the rules again!" comments, along with Cheney's "Thank you for the kind comments about my family" classy response to the Edwards stab at his family were my favorite parts.
Second favorite part was when Cheney smacked him with the "well, I wasn't selected to win electoral votes, since Wyoming only has three." This is the worst whipping I've ever seen in a debate, including "you're no John Kennedy," and Reagan's immortal, "I will not make the youth and inexperience of my opponent an issue in this campaign."

Please don't ever say that again. Edwards is the Senator from North Carolina. We kicked his family out of South Carlonia many years ago.

Have to agree. Ifill was better than Lehrer but that's not saying much.

It just so happens that I have a report (somewhere) from the last year of Clinton, that claims there were 44 million at the time he left office. Considering that we've added at least 1 million illegal aliens in the last 4 years, I'd say the Bush record is very good.
You're right--we add new people to the list and others fall off as they get jobs with benefits. And of course no one ever has the guts to come out and say that maybe people need to be responsible for themselves...Americans drink, smoke and sleep their way into 75% of their health problems. Why should I pay for that?

I did enjoy Gwen Ifill as a moderator. She was fair, and her questions were right on the mark.

How the hell did they set up "bots"? And why aren't we?
To: kingattax
Brit is fine...he just expected Cheney to slaughter Edwards.
Brit Hume is the best thing for us....he is fair, which is all we need to win.
To: kpp_kpp
Exactly. All that's done by voting in the polls is to validate the results of the poll. Don't do it, and they'll be clearly meaningless.

No way did he win that debate.
Edwards did not have to "win" that debate. His persona just appealed more to undecided and swing voters, I fear. Perhaps Cheney's toughness will yet win out: we will know in four weeks unless there are stolen ballots.

"Is there a "who won" poll at cnn.com? "
Yes there is and it's running 75% in favor of The Breck Girl!
sickening!

You go girl. I agree. If people wanna Big Mac themselves into a heart attack then why should I subsidize. It's free will and choice baby.

You're right, you're right...that's perfect. And I hated that movie. The ants gave me the heebie jeebies.

"How the hell did they set up "bots"? And why aren't we?"
because that is cheating, and cheating is not what we are about.

Colmes going after Cheney's Haliburton ties..
Kemp wants to know why Colmes and the Dems weren't whining when Bubba Clinton was giving a contract to the same Haliburton in Bosnia.

You know, I think you have a good point there. Maybe that should be our tactic regarding the internet polls. It would expose the rats.

So true, it did make the listener think a little about why no comment was necessary, that it always excellent strategy, great effect. I also liked the few instances when VP Cheney finished his point and stopped well before his time expired. Contrast that to President, who asked for those 30 second extensions from Leaher on a couple occasions and then did little with them, would have been better off not saying anything. Great job Cheney. I expected as much. He's a complete professional, competent to and through.
To: xm177e2
I agree. The Moderator did a very good job compared to Lehrer. She needs a little more practice keeping track of who is supposed to talk when. But her questions were fair.
