Try to imagine, if you will, a movie that in its first few minutes offends just about everyone who's watching it.
Then you have "Team America: World Police," the new outrageous and controversial new comedy from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of "South Park."
Even as we speak, several prominent Hollywood actors may be calling their lawyers to check on slander laws. GLAAD is certainly drafting a press release condemning the film, and North Korean madman Kim Jong II may have a case as well.
..................
"Team America," as you may know, is performed by marionettes......... .............they made a Jerry Bruckheimer-like action movie that was really a spoof, with lots of explosions, coarse, vulgar language and enough offbeat sexual situations to rile the MPAA?
This is a movie so rough that should, by some strange happenstance, its theme song be nominated for an Oscar as "Blame Canada" was from the "South Park" movie there is no way it could actually be performed at the Academy Awards. .........................
The group of air-headed puppets, led by Alec Baldwin, is dubbed the Film Actors Guild (and referred to by its unfortunate acronym).
Among his liberal associates are usual suspects Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Janeane Garofalo, George Clooney, Ethan Hawke, Matt Damon .........
I am told that none of these actors gave permission for their likenesses to be used. Most will not be amused by their depictions.
......................
The Parker/Stone version of Kim Jong II nearly overtakes the film as the terrorist-hunting switches from the Arab world to Korea.
..............
Paris, most of Egypt and plenty of other landmarks are blown up, all so Team America can, as their credo goes, "put the F back in freedom."

LOL! I thought this was dialogue from the movie. I can't wait to see Team America.
Dear lord! I just fell outta my chair!
Team America features violent scenes in which a Tim Robbins puppet is set on fire and a Susan Sarandon puppet is dropped off a 20-story building - all acts that passed MPAA muster.
OOhhhHHHhhhh! I like this movie already!
"We blow Janeane Garofalo's head clean off, [but for the MPAA] it's all about the positions of the dolls having sex," Parker said. "It's not funny - it's tragic."
But, splinters in ones mouth can get infected!
I went to see Spiderman 2 and thought it was okay for the specal effects. Not much else out there really appeals to me on the screen except maybe the firefighter movie.
My favorite is their portrayal of Barbara Streisand.
MECHA-STREISAND!! Quick, someone call Leonard Maltin, Sidney Poitier, and Robert Smith of The Cure!!
Uh, wow.
Anyone that has a SONG called "Blame Canada" is ok in my book :)
Besides... I believe Stone and Parker have both stated they are rather conservative...
I'm not sure how they mix the puppets and live actors, but I am madly in lust with Sir Ben Kingsley. He was delightfully evil and hot in "Sexy Beast." And yes, it's the bald thing-other secret thrills are Ari Fleisher and imagining Jim Angle WITHOUT the rug...
Oh I love it............I just love it!!! I hope it gets wide distribution.
Great spoof of Moldy Oldie Cracker
Scary, man, you imitate him far too well. I'm watching you.
Same vehicle... marionettes... but it was some kind of rocket ship they flew around in to confront 'evil'.
I liked the spot they run as a commercial for the movie... one guy fires an RPG that misses the target but hits the Great Pyramid!
A definite plus for those of us who don't give a rats a$$ about Egyptology!
Give it a few weeks to play in the theaters first....
OH MY GAWD! THEY'VE KILLED KENNEDY!.......
It's not difficult. :) All of 'em think and speak and scream in exactly the same way. Go through a porn thread by Tailgunner_Joe sometime. He's the very same way.
...sounds like this is a must see!!
"Tailgunner_Joe" posts anti-porn threads? Seriesly?
I think Southpark may be one the strongest foces against political correctness in our culture.
