Here are the specific frames from the debate video shoqing most clearly what Kerry had in his hand as he took it out of his pocket and placed it on the podium.
I have taken two of the frames, lightened them, zoomed in, and sharpened the pics. No other enhancements have been made:
I think it was well wishing from the rice boats for kerry. (the north vietnam navy).
Thanks Mayor for that pic!
You may be right about newbies, I haven't looked at that, but what I'm reading isn't apologia, it's cynicism from minds recently chiropracted by the Sandy Berger affair. Remember that? The man smuggled in a cell phone, smuggled out and destroyed classified govt documents, and called it an innocent oversight. Yes, that broke the rules. Consequences? Knuckle rapping by Republicans, knee slapping by Democrats.
We will know tonight. Fox News has the feed. They'll tell us.
Only have a few minutes to post, so I don't have time to read the whole thread. Has anyone looked at the end of the video to see what he did with the notes after the debate?
First, many channels, including CSPAN most certainly did show a split screen.
Second, Kerry was writing a lot during the debate (which was fine--note taking was allowed with items provided at the podium) and it was parodied on SNL last night. Many observers found Kerry' note-taking excessive and apparently so did the comedy writers at NBC.

Thanks.
Unfortunately, what's happening in the debate fallout is hot button issues that were driving GWB's polls, and the bloggers----CBS' forged TANG documents and SWIFT-BOAT VETS----have been taken off the front-burner.
These issues were internet generated-----did not emanate from the Bush campaign----and I'm proud to say FR helped to get the issues up to Mach 1 speed.
The current lull in the campaign doesn't have much to do with the debate itself.
New hot button issues will rejuvenate GWB's poll surge.
Has anyone checked the end of the video to see if he picked up anything?
Karl Rove should challenge and call for a not-so-instant instant replay. "W" should win debate on a disqualification!
My pleasure Meek!
Thanks! It looked like a pen I could be wrong...
bump!
I saw right after Kerry and Bush left the stage at the debate, someone ran up to Kerry's podium and picked up some things. I assumed it was the notes/scribbles Kerry made during the debate. Guess they didn't want them falling into the wrong hands. Also, think someone did the same for Bush.
This is presidential material don't you know.
Would make a fine wall display in the J F'n fx4 Kerry presidential library.
Note: J F'n fx4Kerry = J F'n "flip-flop fop fake Kerry.
It was explicitly and unambiguously against the rules for candidates to bring any tangible item other than themselves (and presumably their clothing) with them to the podiums. Note-taking materials were required to be given before the debate to campaign staff who would place them on the lecterns [the rules actually said podiums, but that would be rather silly].
Just thank you all for paying attention and trying to keep the process honest. These particular dems are just criminals.
I'm fighting for W till the day after election day, then of course till the end of time..
Whether he cheated or not, there will be lots of eyes on him in the next debate.
