XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Developing...
all's fair in love and war and such.
Looks like you were right.
Good job.
Can someone repost the link to the high res feed...
First Sandy Burger, then Dan Rather, now this? WTF is going on? Are they THAT desperate? How low will they go, one wonders??
Here are 2 different links, you can see that the President doesn't take anything out of his pocket, but seems to pick up a pen from the podium.
Kerry on the other hand clearly has removed something from his breast pocket with his back to the audience.

In the 2nd link, you can skip over the commercial at the beginning, by clicking on the forward arrow.
Those are the old style. Now there are pens that look normal but you can pull a tab and produce 6-12 inches of a printed ad.
Yes they are!!!
I am new here, but maybe Kerry and Bush both had to wear ear peices for security reasons.
Aside from Omstrat's touching faith in the media's willingness to investigate Dem wrongdoing, his being unhappy about President Bush's performance may not mean that he supports Kerry.
And if he does support Kerry, is a Dem, it is instructive to see how they construct arguments. b.
Gee, does Kerry approve of these "harsh" words being used against the president?
Why did Rather use documents several of his own experts said were bad?
Why did Sandy Burglar stuff top-secret documents in his underwear?
Why did Kerry run the bogus "Winter Soldier" smear the US vet trial? Why did Kerry lie about being in Cambodia? Why did he lie in his biography about the other PFC boats leaving the boat struck by a mine while his boat stayed?
Why do all Dem lie?
Because they had the MSM covering for them and for the longest time there was no other outlet for news.
OLD HABITS DIE HARD!
Thanks!
The point is the rules were no notes. If Kerry had them, he cheated of course. That is the issue, and I think it is important as it shows the lack of character one expects in John Kerry.
I think you are on to something there...
Find anything at the end of the debate yet?
And why did not Bush say something at the debate? Why was he not paying attention? He did not have to say - he has cheat sheets - just say hey he brought in what was not allowed - whatever it was.
You were allowed to use a pen and paper, but it had to be handed to the moderator before the debate to be placed on the podium by the moderator so that he could be sure that there were no notes on the paper. They were permitted to take notes during the debate and refer to them or pretend that they were referring to them so that they had something to look at. Bush was not trying to hide anything.
Does anyone recall who Bush was talking to when he said "Let me finish" during one of his answers? I went to a link someone posted on here earlier, and it claimed that Bush was using an earpiece and said Let me finish, meaning he may have been listening to someone on the other end. I don't believe that, but wanted to know if someone saw who he was talking to.
