XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Like I said in the last thread I hope this is so damn true, because I have been spoiling for a fight lately and I think I just found my issue. Time to krush Kerry once and for all,it has been long due time for the Kool Krush.

Maybe it was the notecards that they were allowed to write on. In the video it also looks like Bush is pulling something out, as well.

If it's a 3x5 cheat sheet, someone with VERY good handwriting must have made that up. Heck, I nearly failed a test in college, even with a cheat sheet that size! Although that might have been because I was "out" the previous night... ;)

I actually heard a theory from someone that it was a list of people to thank at the beginning, as he seems to look down a couple of times while doing his thanking. That makes sense.

Have you read the FR thread concerning the Gallup poll on Friday?

If not you should read it respondants said yes Kerry is a better debater, but they believed Bush.

And by something like 57 - 35 Bush was considered to be the tougher President. On ALL the importnat issues oin the debate, Bush won by WIDE margins, WIDE.

Refer to post #772 for verification. Why he did it, I have no idea, but the jackass definitely pulled cheat sheets out of his pocket using his left hand while making the transition to the podium. One thing I can tell you it isn't, "helpful notes from Teresa".

Kerry knows the media will cover for him. How has Sandy Berger been ruined for stealing files, supplying Kerry camp with security info about harbors, bridges, tunnels? Has Joe Wilson suffered for lying in a book and on tv claiming his CIA wife had nothing to do with his being sent to Niger?
His wife's request that he be sent was in the 9/11 Commission report. None of the media that couldn't get enough of that liar has mentioned it.

The Old Media = Orwellian Memory Hole.

Staffers at the Kerry campaign may want to put the cork back in their champagne bottles after they examine the internal numbers in the latest Gallup poll on Thursday night's presidential debate.

Sure, most of those surveyed felt that the Massachusetts Democrat was the better debater, by a whopping margin of 53 percent to 37 percent.

Kerry did even better when Gallup asked which candidate expressed himself clearly, beating Bush 60 percent to 32 percent. But when asked which of the two was more believable, it was Bush over Kerry – 50 percent to 45 percent.

On which candidate did better on the issues, again it was Bush over Kerry, 49 percent to 46 percent.

Those surveyed by Gallup also apparently didn't buy the media's line that the president came off as irritated and petulant. Asked who was more likable, it was Bush over Kerry again, 48 percent to 41 percent.

But the worst news for team Kerry came when Gallup asked which candidate was tough enough to be president, a question that taps into concerns that Kerry may be weak on terror.

Gallup respondents gave the "tough enough" award to Bush - and by a landslide, 54 percent to 37 percent.

You're right, that does look like something. Pretty small to be a good cheat sheet, though.

I give up man ..Ok you're right ..he had , God knows what , on index cards and that enabled him to answer all the questions . I'd love to know just what .Give me an example of what he might have needed on that card. Now Im seeing posts that say Bush saw that he was cheating and that's why bush bombed out in the debates.Thats nuts , you know that ? Look , I wish to hell it didnt turn out the way but it did ..but it did ..I think Bush was tired, ill prepped ,and allowed Kerry to direct the flow of things. Bush stumbled and stuttered and let things go that that were beyone belief. I dont think that has anything to do with seeing Kerry with cheat notes. Believe what ya want , it dosent matter . The damage is done to us now, there is NOTHING that could be proved at this point and it's a non issue.PS if Kerry wins , we're ALL doomed

That's scary in itself that %45 of those polled think Kerry is believable , especially that he lied his ass off during the debates. Again , why did Bush just STAND there and Let him do it ???. WOW ..

What do you mean FNC wasn't invited? It was my understanding that FOX was the Pool feed for the debate.

Hey, relax dude. I'm just pointing out that there are MANY things he could've put down on the card. Zingers, key facts, dates, etc. He didn't necessarily use all of them. He didn't necessarily know all the questions in advance.

"I actually heard a theory from someone that it was a list of people to thank at the beginning, as he seems to look down a couple of times while doing his thanking. That makes sense."

IF Kerry cannot memorize a list of people to thank, there is no way he could have done this well in the debate without a cheat sheet. Also, they could not bring any tangibles to the podium. Why would he need to face away from the audience and moderator if it was NOT a cheat sheet.

If a candidate references or cites any specific individual(s) in a debate audience, or if a candidate uses a prop, note, or other writing or other tangible thing during a debate, the moderator must interrupt and explain that reference or citation to the specific individual(s) or the use of the prop, note, or other writing or thing violates the debate rules agreed to by that candidate.

Maybe this is what the moderator Lehr's wink to Kerry was about?

He's also increased his posting rate. Get as many 'discouraging' posts in as he can before he comes under close scrutiny. I notice it's not working.
