Bush has handled this meme poorly for over a year. It was an anti-war talking point, I think concocted in Europe.
There's only pockets of Taliban in the SE. Forces for Iraq were not fit for Afstan. An anaolgy could be why stop the war on Japan because some pockets remained on Okinawa.
Kerry even got away with the impression that Osama is alive and living in Afghanistan.

.Kerry had once supported removing Saddam Hussein from power but now "says it was all a mistake."They connected the dots in 1998 but Senator Kerry and MSM can't seem to connect the dots in 2004.

Bump. I was just about to post the same thing. Sen. Bob Graham came on right after Gen. Franks and stuck to his story that Gen Franks DID tell him that resources were being pulled out of Afganistan (in 2002). He had no direct proof of that though, only his "notes". I don't think anyone bought it.
