IT'S A LANDSLIDE - Weekly Reader Poll

My students voted in the weekly reader poll today. (Official results for the nation will be out next month). Anyway, I tried to be objective. It was hard. The best I could say about Kerry was "Kerry has some different ideas and thinks he can do a better job than Bush." Anyway, Bush won with 16 votes. Kerry had 5. Even the girl who I know her parents are big Kerry supporters voted for Bush!
Why can't America be as smart as my students?

Why can't America be as smart as my students?Because the major network news rooms won't let them be.

Children are so intuitive...I just love them. They can say the most unedited and profound stuff.
Have you seen the pic of Laura Bush right after she brought her twins home?? OMG,,it is so beautiful,,and she looks so tired but very serene and very maternal.
Kids are the future,,

Even the girl who I know her parents are big Kerry supporters voted for Bush! Well, I guess we know who's going to be grounded for a while.

Even when I told them to cast their votes, I could hear some chanting of "Bush, Bush!"

You must teach in a private school....
Anyway, good report. There's hope for America!

Perhaps some of the parents should start listening to their kids. The very simple way kids can sometimes articulate things might help some of the Kerry-supporting parents overcome their affliction!
Nah, you're just a good teacher! :)

Similar results in my wife's 4th grade class. I'll be interested in seeing the official Weekly Reader results!

I wish. Our state is very pro-Bush.
To: thirdgradeteacher
Thank goodness they have you.
I was just telling someone on another thread how my daughters teachers are making fun of Bush at every turn, and is geting ready to test them to see if they are "right or left".

Reminds me of the six year old who figured out the Florida ballots. No hanging chads, no Buchanan votes.

Do we know how well the actual Weekly Reader poll predicts the winner?

No, she looks like she's saying, "Bushie, put down the damn camera already and grab a kid!"

Why can't America be as smart as my students? All I know is that after one month in public kindergarten (Massachusetts), my 5-year-old -- who used to race me up the stairs shouting "last one up is a DEMOCRAT!" -- informed me last night that she is voting for John Kerry.
