Perhaps THE turning point in the campaign came at the 9 minute and 45 second mark of Debate Number 3. In what I believe was a calculated attempt to intimidate Bush, Gore walks up to Bush, sticks his hand in his pocket, gets even closer... Bush is in the middle of giving a good response on HMOs, sees Gore, nods, and then ignores him and proceeds with his statement. The audience laughs.
IT DIDN'T WORK! Gore knew it. Look at his reaction as he realizes that Naomi Wolf's latest "Alpha Male" ploy didn't work, as he was looking straight into the eye of a REAL Alpha Male... one who doesn't need to be coached on how to be a man. All he could muster was a "What about the Dingell-Norwood Bill?" What about it, Algore? I think this may be THE defining moment of the campaign where for the first time in 8 years, a Republican didn't back down in the face of Clinton-Gore bullying. Oh my, how sweet it is....

That nod by Bush was absolutely the most priceless moment in any debate I've ever seen.
And when the audience laughed, I thought maybe I'd never stop laughing right along with them.
It was at that moment I realized there was a darned good reason Tipper was so interested in mental health issues.
Gore reminds me of a guy waiter I used to know who worked at a downtown Chicago restaurant.
Priceless moment. I thought at the time, what is this dumb@ss trying to prove as he edged closer and closer to Bush who was in the middle of his answer.
