A DAY (a few days) IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS): 9.25, 26, 27.04

Based at Prairie Chapel Ranch, the president is preparing for the first debate with the sometime Senator, John Kerry, this Thursday, and campaigning.

SATURDAY: In his weekly radio address, President Bush said, "This week, I was honored to welcome the Prime Minister of a free and sovereign Iraq to the White House."

SUNDAY: President Bush said he had no regrets about his 'Mission Accomplished' speech on Iraq in May 2003 and would do it all over again if he had the chance, according to excerpts from an television interview released on September 26. As Vietnam veteran Tommy Franks wrote in American Soldier, it was Franks' idea, and the USS Abraham Lincoln was the unapologized-for chosen format, to find a way to acknowledge our troops' overwhelming success in toppling the Hussein regime in a matter of weeks.

TODAY: President Bush campaigned in Ohio.

It staggers the understanding, how kerry insulted Allawi. I mean, just suppose kerry became president. He certainly signaled to Allawi and 25 million other Iraqis what he thinks of them and how he'd treat them.

John Kerry: an international disaster waiting for an opportunity to "happen."

Rumor has it, Kerry isn't getting any crowds at all . . . awwwwwwwww (smiling)

Hehehe! You're singing my song! I can't WAIT until our Dubya treds Kerry beneath his cowboy boots, and then scrapes him off, like something Dubya would scrape off his boots after a walk through the pastures on his ranch!

Hiya Eragon. I had to go away for quite a while so you're not alone. I don't have my jammies on yet though.

Hi, Eragon! He sure is! Those pictures with babies are my favorites, along with the ones he takes with Barney.

It's nice to run into you, Eragon! Usually everyone is gone when I get here!

I don't have cable and can't stand the old alphas so I watch PBS if I catch the news. They show a lot more of both candidates' speeches than the other channels, but then, they do a full hour of news.

They seem to figure it's important to let the candidates have a few minutes to speak for themselves instead of being endlessly "analyzed" and spun.

Lehrer seems to be a pretty straight arrow.

That Email, posted at 60, showed up in Larry Elder's column in "The Washington Times," although I don't think it had the breathalyzer comments in it.

hehe

I think kerry has severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, resulting in him needing to vacation very, very often, being inattentive at the Senate, etc. I think he had it before he went to Vietnam and from what I've read about his father, who is (or was) himself a real mess, little JF Kerry had a pretty messed up kidhood. His life's been a mess for a very long time. He is very bright but bright doesn't cut it when you can't fix on the task at hand and have no moral compass.

He does seem to have connected with that little one more than usual.

In _A Matter of Character_, one of W's friends said he lights up more than for any other occasion when his daughters are in the room.

Great photos, GretchenM!

You can feel the exhuberance of the crowds!

Just a bit more misery to heap on Kerry's plate!

I wonder why the media only photographs Kerry up close and from the chin up when he stumps?

Jack.

The media do make a short sweep of the kerry and edwards crowds. Did you catch the article on FR tonight about the crowd that waited two hours for Edwards and then half of them left before he arrived?

Here's something in honor of all those on your list:

Defenders of Freedom
Defenders of Freedom, that’s what we are!
No battlefield too dangerous, no region too far.
We’ll march thru the desert with sand in our boots,
To search out a tyrant, take aim and shoot.
We’ll crawl thru the jungle, hide out in the woods,
Sleep in a foxhole, Go for days without food.
We’ll fire our weapons, drop bombs if we must,
Unless evil surrenders, it’s Baghdad or bust!

From the tortured and downtrodden we hear the call;
We’ll hammer away till dictatorships fall,
We want the needy to know that they’re not alone,
Even tho’ some of us won’t return home.
We’ll lay down our lives so you can be free,
Leave our loved ones behind for your liberty.

From Saratoga to Somalia, we’ll sacrifice;
From Shiloh to Saigon, we’ll pay the price;
From Omaha Beach to The South China Sea,
Wherever we’re needed, that’s where we’ll be!
You’ll know when you see the Red, White and Blue,
We’ll defend your freedom because that’s what we do!

C. Steele April 2003
