Well, the way I see it, the VAB could only get a "little" wet -
There are so many holes left from the last hurricane all the water is going to blow horizontally in one side, go through, and come out the other side.

Martin County: Stuart, Palm City, Port Salerno.
Landfal at the county line with St. Lucie County, so Port St. Lucie is in the immediately area, Ft. Pierce 12-15 miles N of that.
BTW, Cape Canaveral will escape most of the bad stuff.

Indian River was the site of the post-nuclear war survival novel set in the early sixties in south FL on a little town on a fresh-water river, wasn't it?

BTW, Cape Canaveral will escape most of the bad stuff. I hope you're right, but you sure can't tell that from looking at the radar.

I'm amused for some reason that you're not just in Orange Co, but in
west Orange -- stay well!

Side of the Eye is just about at the beach now. 10:00 EDT.
Winds and rain in West Palm Beach are from the west, that will reduce the damage down there a little bit.

This thing is strong, and the nasty side will be on the other side of the eye, yet to come.

I am not getting pressure readings at the landfall site - closest is West Palm, reporting 980.6 mb.

Oh - good to hear alancarp that Cape Canaveral should miss the worst. Hope so - hope this storm moves a lot faster than the others that came through already - although moving fast equals more power - over shorter time / moving slow - less power? more rain? - over longer time period. Right?
So there are negatives in both scenarios. I just know the faster those winds go by, the better I would like it.
Oh my! Geraldo is NOT out in the hurricane winds/rain! Wonder why?
One thing from the spinning picture behind Geraldo - the dark red parts (I realize that is from the coloration of the radar) of the eye wall seem to have definitely lessened - is that accurate or just some function of the radar? Dark red completely encircled the eye when the cane was out over the water and over the Bahamas - but now there was only one small section of dark red in the lower right quadrant. Does this mean intensification has lessened?

Precautionary tornado warnings issued for St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River Counties. Nothing specific -- other than a landfalling hurricane.

Thank you very much for thinking of me and my mother. We are well.
Appears that Jeanne will not affect Jacksonville all that much, if current forecast is correct. Wind to 60 kts or so and rain to 12 inches or so -- hopefully that is all we'll get! Much like FRances.
Getting sick and tired of the dagnabbed hurricanes, though! Ready for fall weather!
Hope you and yours are doing well.
Prayers up for those in Harm's Way!

Thanks for your reply. I'm so sorry, but I was offline for quite awhile. I do appreciate your response.

Figure 1/3 of the storm is over land now, it makes sense it's slight less powerful.
Bet surfing on the lake is nice right now 8<)
It looks the storm surge into the harbor is reduced somewhat since the waves can't flow directly into Pt St Lucie from the Northeast.
That helps a little bit.
