Inside Politics - Slamming celebrities

The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, author of "Scam: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America," has announced the start of what he calls the 'Black' List Campaign "to expose Hollywood's most anti-American black entertainers, who are viciously criticizing the U.S. war on terror and lying to black Americans." Celebrities on the list include Spike Lee, Danny Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, Harry Belafonte, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Will Smith and others, Mr. Peterson said in a prepared statement. Mr. Peterson said, "I'm sickened by black entertainers who drive $350,000 Bentleys and still cry 'racism.' Americans of all colors pay to see their movies, and they have the nerve to bash the U.S.? American servicemen and women watch their shows; yet, they travel to foreign lands and badmouth our forces?

No substitute for common sense. I wish there were more people out there like Mr. Peterson.

Hate to see Will Smith on the list. I like him. Just so Denzel Washington doesn't get on the list. That dood is a wonderful actor. Training Day and Man on Fire are incredible movies.

They were 'bad mouthing the forces'? I am a fan of some of the people listed in the article, and considering the severity of accusations I would like to see some evidence.

Will Smith can't act, isn't funny and recently called America the most racist nation on earth. He is Stepin Fetchit without the wit.

I hope you are not a fan of that idiot Will Smith. He always struck me as appealing only to those on the left side of the bell curve (maybe you are the exception).

And who does he think this "Black List" is going to hurt ? Blacks tend to close ranks pretty quickly in the face of any perceived attack.

There was a time when blacks were so politically weak that their leadership had no choice but to denounce blacks who had fallen massively out of white favor like Muhammed Ali, Malcolm X and Paul Robeson in order to please white allies. Never again. Never again will "good blacks" turn against "bad blacks" at the command of whites. It smells of cringing obsequiousness, of a need to be white people's good pet black. That is why the black political leadership has distanced itself from Farrakhan but never denounced him because no one wants to seem to be willing to submit to any white litmus test.

If Bond thinks this will get him any black political support he is a fool. If anyone is harmed by it, it will be him.

Yeah! for Jesse Lee.

What a shame about his first name. It's difficult to send accolades to a good man named Jesse without choking for a second and thinking of the "other" one; spawn of satan that he is.

No Clemenza, I am not much of a Will Smith fan, not that I dislike him or anything, I just don't find him funny.

25th Hour by Spike Lee is one of my favourite movies and Glover is in a number of movies I like (Royal Tenenbaums, Lethal Weapon).

Well, I've some bad news for you. Washington's movie John Q was nothing more than a 90 minute commercial for Hillary Care.

Talking about major scandals, has anybody noticed that the U.S. Government is investigating Fannie Mae? The New York Times, that paradigm of fair and balanced coverage, has reported, yesterday and today, about a major scandal breweing in Fannie Mae. It appears that this agency is under investigation for "accounting irregularities". But guess what? The accounting irregularities were concocted to allow a bunch of executives to collect bonuses based on 'performance'! So profits were boosted to allow the executives to skim their huge salaries and bonuses without the public being aware. And guess who some of the executives involved are? You guessed it! Most are Democratic party operatives such as James A. Johnson, who was Chairman and chief executive and who received, in 1998 only, $ 966.000 in salary and $ 1,932,000 IN BONUSES.
Franklin Raines, who was also Chairman and Chief Executive designate received a salary of $ 526,154 and a bonus of $ 1,109,589. But the most conspicuous member of this gang is none other than the 'belle' of the 9/11 Commission, the ONE AND ONLY Jamie Gorelick!, a Janet Reno assistant who got to participate in this scam as Vice Chairman, and was able to draw $ 567,000 in salary and $ 779,625 in bonuses! There are other individuals such as Lawrence M. Small, who received almost $ 2,000,000, J. Timothy Howard, $ 800,000m and Robert J. Levin, who as executive vice president of this racket got almost $ 890,000!!! Unbelievably, I have read this in the BUSINESS DAY section of The New York Times, but my feeling is that this was reported in this sparsely read section Friday and Saturday, so that the average schmo (like me, for example) doesn't get a chance to see what's going on!

MY TRUE BELIEF IS THAT WE ARE BEING SKINNED ALIVE! THIS HAPPENED DURING THE CLINTON YEARS AND HIS CRONIES ARE STILL 'IN THE POMADE', AS SOME OF US IN THE PROLETARIAT ARE WONT TO SAY TODAY!

Can anyone investigate this further?

This is information that needs to be gotten into the sight of and ears of democrats ... as a group they are so blind to excess and corruption of their own party members; and they put out the word that the republicans are so much worse than they are, and the man in the street still falls for this.

If enough confusion is thrown into the mix, the old party lines will be voted again; and we really need some of the democratic votes.

I heard on tv an economist speaking about six months ago; and he stated that Fannie Mae was in big trouble and about to go under. According to this economist guy they had gotten in this mess be fraudulent booking practices.

25th Hour was partly filmed in my former neighborhood of Bay Ridge. I actually like alot of Spike's movies myself (Do the Right Thing, Crooklyn, Jungle Fever, Summer of Sam).

If I had to throw out all the CDs and DVDs I have that are owned by leftists, all I would be left with was Apocalypse Now (written largely by Pubbie John Milius) and Frank Sinatra (who became a pubbie later in life).

Well, I've some bad news for you. Washington's movie John Q was nothing more than a 90 minute commercial for Hillary Care.

Coincidently enough, I had John Q. on DVD but hadn't watched it yet. I watched it just now. It was incredible propaganda, complete with clips of Hillary, Bill Maher, Jesse Jackson coming at the climactic moment. The heroic struggle of 'everyman' complete with 'heroes' from the left trying to save the day, but for those evil capitalists.

James Woods (??) got in a good bash at 'gun shows' and 'getting a gun in 5 minutes', even though that particular bit of dialog was nonessential to any particular aspect of the plot.

I didn't see any reference to the trial lawyers that have raised medical costs through the roof.

All in all it was a manufactured, hyper-sensationalized scenario that got in some good swipes at HMOs (not totally undeserved swipes at that) but overall felt like nothing but a distortion for partisan political points: "Many people are greedy and don't like high taxes, and that is why 40 million people don't have health insurance, but if you let Hillary have her way, no more fathers will have to take over hospitals to save their dying sons." Yuck.

But Denzel was fabulous, as always. Robert Duval played the same wisened cop character here he played in Falling Down. Also, it's too bad Anne Heche is such a fruit-loop, because she is a beautiful woman.
