CONTROVERSIAL TEXAS RANCHER SAYS LOCKHART WANTED DOCUMENTS //

The source of a disputed CBSNEWS report claimed Thursday that Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart tried to "convince me as to why I should give them the documents." Texas Army National Guard Lt. Col. Bill Burkett tells the FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM that he has suffered four seizures since being identified as CBS' source and dogged by the media... Developing...

A lot of folks seem to believe that Madame Clinton set this debacle up in order to position herself for 2008. I can't believe this. Bush is performing extremely well, and Kerry's campaign is amateurish at best. Why would an ambitious person like Hillary put into motion a plan that might discredit the entire Democratic Party for years? It wouldn't be in her interests. No, I think Kerry and CBS wanted this to fly, but just got sloppy in the execution (posting the memos on the internet). The DNC and its puppetmasters can't be happy at this turn of events--if Memogate is linked to the Dems, the party's influence will continue to wane. They Clintonistas are responding so ineptly because they never expected to get caught. And, if you'll recall, all their lies were exposed last time around, too. Their reputation as masters of subterfuge is largely undeserved.

Was it you who I discussed Burketts mental state with on a thread several days ago.

Seems we nailed it ......he is a loon.....who will now try to bring down the Kerry campaign.

That will teach the RATS to trust a mental patient to bring down a President.

"He said, however, that during the meeting in which he gave the documents to CBS, he was also told by a producer that his phone number would be passed on to Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart.

"I was absolutely and clearly told that that was as far as anyone could go without crossing the line of [journalistic] ethics," Burkett said.

During a single phone conversation with Lockhart, Burkett said he suggested a "couple of concepts on what I thought [Kerry] had to do" to beat Bush. In return, he said, Lockhart tried to "convince me as to why I should give them the documents."

This makes my head hurt, but I'll try my best. He is reported to have had a meeting with CBS, in which he gave them the documents. At that time he is told his phone number would be passed to Lockhart. Then, in a conversation with Lockhart, Lockhart tries to convence him as to why he should give them the documents.

1. The article reads as if Burkett had a meeting and gave CBS the documents.

2. Subsequently he meets with Lockhart who tries to convince him to give "them" the documents. But he had already given "them" the documents. Unless - he is saying that he had already given CBS the documents, and Lockhart was trying to convince him to give "them" - meaning the Kerry campaign, the documents.

Looks like Lockhart was planning a 'stuff docs down pants, socks, up sleeves/Sandy Burglar move'. RATs and CBS are in big trouble.

Well for some reason, O'Donnell is an APOLOGIST for Dan Rather and CBS. Man, was he pummelled!

What a smirky, jerky guy O'Donnell is. He really looked and sounded like a moron.

I can hear Kerry now " I knew nothing about those documents, this is just the case of over zealous campaign adviser trying to help me get elected, in a inappropriate way. I'm sorry to see to see him go, now I've got to go, the wind is up"

Lets see:

Rather seized on Burkett as an "unimpeachable source".
Lockhart seized on Burkett for forged documents.
Mary Mapes seized on Burkett for fame and fortune.
Burkett seizes on opportunity for BIG money.

Yup, that's four seizures.

Never forget this...Burkett is Dan Rather's "unimpeachable source", so everything he says is true. That ought to be the trip-wire in this new story when the MSM will be portraying Burkett as a basket case now.

Hehe... so either Rather lost it, in which case he needs to be let go right away. The Kerry campaign lost it, in which case federal charges need to be brought right away. Or Lockardt lost it, in which case the DNC and CBS lied.

Decisions decisions... Maybe someone should ask Hillary what she thinks of all of this.

Why Kinkos instead of just handing them from Burkett to Mapes?

I'm not clear on that, either:

Headline: CBS backs off Guard story

Ultimately, Burkett decided to turn over the documents to one of the most persistent journalists, CBS producer Mary Mapes, sometime in August. He and his wife met Mapes and CBS reporter Mike Smith at a pizza restaurant a few miles from their ranch. At first he gave them only two of the six documents, which Mapes said she planned to have analyzed for authenticity, according to Burkett.

Burkett said he passed the rest of the documents to Smith around Sept. 5, at a drive-in restaurant near Baird.

Kerry-Edwards: Forging Athead

Lockhart wanted to see the fake documents to make sure Burkett was using the most current versions from the Forgeries And Criminal Acts Department of the DNC.

Yes, I believe it was me, at least to the extent that I had such a conversation. So I can only assume that you know what you're talking about when you say you were the one I had it with.

I definately think that Burkett is not well mentally. However... I think that may be overplayed in some ways. He seems to be more of a well connected Democrat operative than merely some lone nutcase taking on the world. We cannot lose sight of that.

There is a lot of contradictory information out there right now that we need to sort out and make sense of. We need to stay keenly aware that Burkett is a liar and somewhat detatched from reality, so we musn't take him at his word just because he may be advancing our case.

I think Burkett will lie mainly to save his own skin right now. There is a lot more to it than he is saying. I think, for example, he is lying about this recent revelation that Lockhart asked him for the documents. I can't tell if he's claiming he gave them to him or not, but either way, I think he is diverting attention away from a much more coordinated effort which goes back further. By saying that Lockhart was the one was asked (and by implying that he did not oblige) he is trying to remove his own culpability and cover up this collaberative relationship that goes back weeks if not months.

It seems that for right now his anger is directed mainly at CBS and Dan Rather. I'm not yet convinced that he is ready to sell out his Democrat cohorts. That, I think, will require his back being further up against the wall and a personal feeling of betrayal by Kerry's people. If they leave him out to dry and dismiss him as some nut, then he might decide to take a few down with him. Since he is so single-mindedly obsessed with destroying the President, he may even take his lumps up until the election. After that, I expect to see him start singing. For that to happen before the election, it will take some extrodinary heat.

I'm a "Damn Yankee" transplant to the South, but I actually enjoy the culture and history south of the Mason-Dixon line (unlike some of my brethren).

What if Mr. Burkett audiotaped his conversations. He is paranoid. He is lawyered up. He is trying to make commerce from CBS. Lockhart may be on tape somewhere. Could it be?

IF the conversations were taped, and I expect joey lockhart has had a bit of heartburn over this, then money will flow to Burkett, lol, and we will never know.

Besides, I suppose it is illegal to tape a conversation without both parties knowing a tape is rolling unless a formal investigation is going on....but who knows...Burkett, joey, danny, mary, andy ALL had ideological axes to grind...and they fell on um, BIG TIME!
