Dayton will boycott Iraqi premier's speech

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., plans to boycott Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's appearance before Congress today.

Dayton described the speech as "a production" staged by the Bush administration and said that Allawi "ought to be over there running his country." Dayton made the remarks in a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

Apparently Dayton doesn't support the new Iraqi Prime Minister. I assume that Dayton doesn't support Saddam Hussein, so who does Dayton think should be Prime Minister of Iraq?

Calling Congressman Mark Kennedy (R-Wright County)---we need for you to run against Senator Dayton. Dayton got lucky in 2000, but he won't beat Mark Kennedy in 2006, especially with Governor Pawlenty running for reelection and bringing out the conservative vote.

If Dayton were running in Berkeley, California, like Barbara Lee is, then it would help him. But Minnesota is no longer a Soviet satellite state. It elected Governor Pawlenty and Senator Coleman in 2002 and will vote for President Bush in 2004 (Bush lost the state by only like 2.5% in 2000).

Mark Kennedy is running for reelection in the House of Representatives, which, as you should know, is a 2-year term. He can run for the Senate in 2006 without having to leave before his term expires.

Governor Pawlenty should run for reelection and keep leading the state on the road to a conservative government. Pawlenty could be a presidential candidate, or perhaps a VP pick, in 2008.

I called Dayton's office yesterday and raised Hell. The receptionist was shaken --- his boycott has not played well with those who've noticed.

I am writing a scathing letter to the editor as well, the close of which is:

Senator Dayton has again demonstrated that the stature of his high office is beyond is personal reach.

Keep in mind that Senator Dayton's daddy is a co-founder of the Dayton-Hudson-Target retail empire and couldn't find a job which the kid could handle. Thus, he became a professional at running for office. He developed high name recognition with the family bankroll and losing elections. As was bound to happen, sooner or later, he got lucky with (a)the opposition putting up a poor candidate or (b)a convenient scandal and gradually rose through the ranks.

In 2000, the incumbent Rod Grams was a great senator, but had a dilenquent son who couldn't manage his zipper and got caught in a motel room with an underaged bimbo just before election time. As a result, the voters awarded Dayton the senate seat.

He's got to be the dumbest male in the U.S. Senate. Thanks to Patty Murray and Barbara Boxer, he's only the third dumbest person.
