America's morning TV sweetheart, Katie Couric, wasted no time on Wednesday trying to turn the beheading of Americans in Iraq into political ammunition - asking the brother of executed hostage Jack Hensley if he still supported the war.

Just an extra thought regarding that marvellous (and accurate) assessment of Islam by Sir Winston: hydrophobia is an outdated term for rabies. Just FYI.
He said he was upset and feeling emotional and would never make a judgment at that time. He was truly classy.
This is what I sent to NBC. The Today show is all we get here on AFN in Korea, so it's that or nothing for me in the morning. They won't know that, but I felt compelled to write them anyway. That question was TOTALLY tasteless.
It somehow looks like NBC is trying to move in on CBS's title of being the most biased of the network channels. Kati's question to her guest this morning was totally tasteless. This poor sole is mourning his brother's death and katie uses this moment to try to get a political plug out of a grieving family member. This reaches to the same bowels of Mr Rather at your rival network. I have shut Mr Rather off and guess it's time to consider shutting Ms Couric off too.
She should be totally ashamed of herself and should do as Mr Rather has done and make at least a half-hearted effort to apologize. I'll be waiting to hear it. If not, I'll decide accordingly as to my choice of morning viewing.
Where do I send Her?? How can I help??
My letter:
Dear Ms. Couric;
At one time I enjoyed catching your show in the morning as I rushed around getting ready for work. Somewhere along the line though I found myself switching from the Today Show to Good Morning America.
There was something about the maturity and beauty of Diane Sawyer that attracted me. I also liked Charlie Gibson more that I did Matt Lauer. Cute and perky weren't attractive attributes in a woman who was interviewing people about serious subjects. You always appeared to insert yourself as the center of attention instead of allowing the story you were covering to come first. Many times it seemed as if Matt Lauer was embarassed by your actions and it became painful to watch him attempt to cover for you.
This morning for some reason I neglected to switch my television over to GMA. Unfortunately I caught your interview with Mr. Hensley's brother. Your insensitivity in asking a man who is in mourning if he still supported the war in Iraq was beyond my conprehension.
Is this the type of questioning you would have wanted to be asked when your husband died? Ah, I suppose you consider Mr. Hensley's brother fair game since he was willing to appear on your program. Anything goes, right?
I'm grateful people like you are not part of main stream America. Your lack of empathy is stunning. The pushing of your agenda in the face of this man's loss is crass and says reams about who you are.
To make sure I no longer (even accidentally) am subjected to your comments, I have blocked NBC completely.

Katie .. you are an Insensitive B!tch
"I'll buy Katie a ticket to Iraq."
Hell, buy her another colonoscopy--it's the closest thing she's going to get to a date.
Thankfully I had my email client correct my spelling errors before I sent my email.
I will practice that in the future.
Pastor says I should love my neighbor but, some neighbors make that really difficult!
I agree with you in that it is difficult to love certain neighbors. They can and do make it very hard at times!
I didn't want to be dismissed by making my letter partisan or uncivil. If I had accused her of being biased towards us, I'm sure my email would have been dismissed as just another VRWC crank complaint. The same goes for being uncivil.
When I write a letter I always write it in such a manner that if it was addressed to me I wouldn't be able to reject immediately what the person was saying. Hope that makes sense.
Well done fuzzy122.
She's an insensitive partisan pig.
Would like him to have said... umm, I'm SURE Katie, you have asked yourself if you played a role in causing your husbands death from colon cancer.~~
She kicks her dog and brings rotten fruit to the sick, too, I'd bet.

"Katie Couric is the poster girl for that special type of liberal elite....smiling, smooth, but barely containing inner feelings of rage. Only a somewhat neurotic person could transform what should be a normal human reaction of grief and anger at this latest barbarism, and turn it into a political statement. It takes a narcisstic, borderline personality to do this without skipping a beat. These peoples smiles hide an inner emptiness."
Spot on analysis of Katie Al-Couric. She operates on ideology with no sense of morals.
Sorry, so late to reply Had to get some shut-eye. (:
I hope they spare the niece and just go after the big-bucks one. Then we can all answer that question.

Often refered to as America"s sweetheart should now be referred to as Americas tartheart.
What are these peoples goal?
I dont think even little miss airhead wants kerry elected, Deep inside they know they cant trust Kerry. They know that if Ma Thereeeeza is on her best behavior now - what is she going to be like after? With Hilary they could use bribay and blackmail - but Theresa will be like a two bit dictator.
Do they want us to lose the war in Iraq? Cut and run leaving a powder keg?
Our enemies realize that a safe and democratic Iraq will give us a big area in the middle East to have military bases so we wont need the blessings of Old Europe to fly over their countries. We wont need the Saudis oil -
The only thing that America has to fear, is the anti american Americans like little miss sweettart.
She will learn that like dan dan the liberal man - she either starts reporsing both sides, or she will fade into candyland oblivion.
Now if just 10% of FReepers followed your lead, maybe - just maybe - they'd get the message.
BRAVO!
