JERUSALEM: A Palestinian woman suicide bomber blew herself up near a hitch-hiking post in Jerusalem yesterday, killing two people and wounding 15.
The blast tore through the mainly Jewish district of French Hill in East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed in a move not recognised internationally.
Witnesses said a young woman, wearing a headscarf, blew herself up as she approached a security position near the post used mostly by soldiers.
"She threw her head back and then there was an explosion," one witness said. "A few seconds later, her body burst into flames." The blast sprayed body parts and broken glass over the pavement.
The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed group in President Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, claimed responsibility, saying it was avenging Israel's recent killing of several of its members in the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin.
Palestinian cabinet minister Saeb Erekat said: "We condemn this attack and any attack that targets civilians."
The blast came three weeks after two suicide bombers killed 16 people on buses in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.

One would hope the IDF does not return remains such as these to the families for burial.

I saw those poor people who volunteer to clean up the gore from these insane muderer's acts. One of them picked up one of her (homicide bomber) legs, from the thigh down, and stuffed it into a plastic bag.
I don't know how those guys can mentally take it, coming back time after time to these bloody scenes, but they sure have my respect, for I don't think I could do it.
I think it is instructive to think about what would be the consequences of the suicide bomber driving a truck with a nuke in the back. Gives you a perspective of the real problem we face. When the attacked wants to die for their cause, all bets are off.
