ANTI-IRAQI FORCES ATTACK 1ST INFANTRY DIVISION FROM MOSQUE

TIKRIT, Iraq— A 1st Infantry Division patrol was attacked Sept. 22 by anti-Iraqi forces with small arms fire and mortar fire from a mosque in Samarra at approximately 5 p.m. The Soldiers did not return fire.

The patrol had been attacked earlier by AIF in another location of the city and returned fire. The AIF relocated to a nearby building and continued attacking the patrol. Attack helicopters supporting the patrol fired hellfire missiles into the building.

The patrol continued and was subsequently attacked by AIF with small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades. The Soldiers returned fire with small arms fire and a TOW missile. Anti-Iraqi Forces again attacked the patrol and attack aviation dropped a GBU-12 bomb on the building. As the patrol continued they were engaged by AIF from the mosque.

There were no injuries to the Soldiers or damage to equipment.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CENTCOMM is pleased to announce the obliteration of all the insurgent-terrorists that opened fire on a 1st Infantry Division patrol earlier today.

It was decided that the best tactic would be to not fire at the terrorists with conventional means, but rather use the largest, most powerful explosives in the CENTCOMM inventory: The Standard Mark-1 Mod-0 "SUPERSPLAT"

The counteroffensive, called OPERATION ASS-WHUP was deemed a success when the "SUPERSPLAT" left a 40 foot crater where the offending mosque had stood. Commanding General Robert "Buzz" Sawyer said that CENTCOMM and the 1st Infantry Division decided the use of this ultra-awesome weapon was called for due to the need to fight a "sensitive" war. "We wanted to be sensitive to the urge of these terrorists to meet face-to-face with the Almighty" said Sawyer "so we felt it important to give them what they wanted-and so very much deserved"

The SUPERSPLAT is manufactured by the ACME Bomb and Missile Company of Goshen, Connecticut.

Insurgents fire from a mosque. Level it to the ground. Bet it only happens once.

The worldwide howling will be deafening. It will probably take 3 or 4 times for them to learn if we did it once we'll do it again.

Time to whip out the old microwave weapons and fry those shooting at our soldiers while leaving the mosque intact.

My Grandson said they had found as much 200 tons of weapons and ammo in some mosque in and around Baghdad when he was there.IMHO if these mosque were bombed the war would end in two days.

"Level the fuc**** mosque!!! These savages hack off people's heads, blow up women and children, and shoot our guys in the back."

It is time to fight this war in a language these evil, murdering bastards understand! For each head Hacked off, level 25 mosques. For each suicide bomb attack, level 25 mosques. For each westerner kidnapped, level 25 mosques even before any heads are hacked. Hit 'em in their 'holy' places. And take as many of these evil, murdering bastards out with each mosque as possible!

This nonsensical and ill-informed criticism does no good but it does do plenty of bad. Sounds like the boys generated as much havoc as they wanted to and undoubtedly did EXACTLY what was necessary.

There is not one shred of evidence in this article indicating anything to generate that irrational outburst from you and the other armchair generals who live to yammer inane threats and spout half-baked theories.

I revere our troops, beyond "having a little faith" in them.

I am well aware that Democrats and media in this country serve as the fifth-column, merrily giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

I marvel at the elegance evinced in 34 above.

I would urge this commander-in-chief to put that policy in the form of a bold national security memorandum,

--to make said memorandum public--

--to clarify the Bush doctrine--

File the entire proposal under the easy-to-remember heading

Go Ahead: Make My Day

Further this deponent sayeth not.

We are trying to establish a government friendly to us in Iraq. I wish the critics would remember that before popping off with the same old nonsense which has been issuing from day one in Iraq. Such divisive crap helps only our enemies and undermines our leaders.

Intelligence is not pc. We are trying to create a new government to control Iraq all efforts must be subordinate to that for that is the strategic end. Tactical decisions cannot cripple that end.

I see you bolded this sentence of Pope's:

If a soldier or legitimate follower of the army be fired upon from any house the house shall be razed to the ground, and the inhabitants sent prisoners to the headquarters of this army.

Appropriate.

And I wish folks in Washington would read some history. We have done it before, suncessfully, in Germany. First you beat them down. THEN you build them back up while helping them see a greater external threat.

The Shiites hate us, they are funded by Iran where the leadership hates us, and no amount of bending over backward will make them our friends.

"Friendly" isn't going to happen. I'll settle for fear and respect when it comes to Shiites.

1) Apparently you are not aware that our enemies in Iraq are from other countries as terrorists from across the Middle East flock in to fight us realizing that if we are successful there they are finishied. There is no comparison to Germany or Japan. Germany was divided into four zones and Japan was isolated by the oceans. Iraq is wide open for infiltration.

2) Shiite leadership is NOT controlled by Iran and their major leaders do NOT want a theocracy as Shistani has repeatedly said. He wants a separation between politics and religion since he believes the former corrupts the latter. Apparently you are not even aware that the majority of the attacks are NOT from Shiites in the first place. Sadr is not one of the major Shiite leaders but a little pissant.
