GERTZ: Al Qaeda seen planning for 'spectacular' attack; Intelligence agencies think danger is high to Inauguration Day... Developing...
"IIRC, the "trigger" for the September 11, 2001 attacks was the assasination of Massood. "
Very interesting correlation, I did not know that. What sucks is that even if do manage to stop the big attacks, the scumbags will begin choosing much softer targets. I am appalled when I go to NYC and all people can yak about is how much Bush has destroyed the country and how great Kerry is. How could they have forgotten 9/11 so soon?
Inauguration Day is an obvious target for reasons I won't list here, we all know. I can imagine that security in Washington on that day will be tight beyond description.
I really wish Drudge would put more info on the site than just the headline in red.
They will want to hit us as they did Spain, prior to the election. You can say we are not Spain. They don't know that and frankly we don't know that. They know Kerry will equivocate they must defeat Bush. Inaugaration day is too late. IF we are "lucky" they will do a desperation car bomb attack or two. If we are less lucky they will do something horrible on a grand scale. And of course, they would love to assasinate our president. Or a member of his family. these things are likely in the next few weeks.

This is exactly what John Kerry is hoping and praying for - and all the scumbags in the Kerry camp.
Pak unearths 9/11 style al Qaeda memo (planning attack on US with WMD in near future)

ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON: Pakistani authorities have reportedly discovered an al Qaeda memo that warns of suicide attackers using weapons of mass destruction on Americans in t he near future.
According to the Daily Times , Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin , an online subscription intelligence news service, says that these attacks will include the use of biological and chemical weapons, and that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, under heavy US pressure, has instructed his security and intelligence chiefs to focus on jihadi suicide volunteers because of this emerging threat.
Topping the memo's list stands the US, although European countries are also specified as preferred targets, says the report.
I agree. He does have credibility. I am impressed by him - he responded to an email I sent on an earlier security flap.
Correct. The terrorists in Iraq are reduced to kidnapping and killing innocent civilians. If they're willing to do that with US troops right there then why does anyone believe that they weren't doing it before when US troops weren't there?
I thought the same thing when I was there last summer. Everywhere you saw the dumb and dumber t shirts of both Bush Presidents. New York has such chic and sophistication, but what resonates with the people is such liberal thinking. My Grandma RIP said the same thing of Al Smith in the early 1900s.
I think you could be right. They of course want to attack before election day. I think, however, that we will lower our guard right after the election, thinking that we got through it safely. That is when they might attack which is why I have been concerned about the inauguration.
When I was debating politics with a collegue in NYC, he was trying to come up with a Kerry scoreacrd of how he would be a better president. I told him I wouldn't bother because if you don't have an ass-whooping president to attack the terrorists then we live in fear. If fear is the dominating factor of my life then who gives a crap about anthing else?
Quite a few;unfortunately.
IIRC, Massood was quite influential--how important (compared to him) were the clerics killed today?
Gertz's new book "treachery" is a good read.
Come on, just how much does Gertz expect us to believe. Geez!
