Sunday the President met with First Responders in Alabama, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, saying, "I want to thank the search and rescue teams from all over the United States who are here, using every possible asset they have to find those who are still missing." He comforted residents during a walking tour of neighborhoods damaged by Hurricane Ivan in Pensacola, Florida.
Today President Bush campaigned in Derry, N.H., before heading to New York City for meetings at the United Nations.
Enjoy your daily Dose of W @ Sanity Island.
The corn maze sounds like a hoot, and the kind of things kids will always remember.
That is sad.
Is your home okay?
Thanks for shipping that photo to Luis, Mike.
And thanks x infinity for the makestickers.com lead. I got two printed and the second one is on its way to the requester. I like my copy -- and I got to retain the (c).
Was Dan Rather's apology on the CBS Evening News, or in another format? I'm going to go set up the VCR to get it at 6 PM Pacific Daylight Time if he coughed it up during his regular news "show."
Early dose tonight - thanks, Gretchen. (I'd have been here sooner but I was enjoying the numerous CBS threads, not to mention the Fox news reports on that subject)
These are great photos!
I believe it was CBS evening news I saw it on FOX.
Yes it's fine. A couple that goes to our church had an oak tree fall on their roof. It did some damage. And there are signs and trees down everywhere. Some at the schools, etc. I think the saddest thing that happened close to this area was that 3 women died of carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty back up generator. We were extremely blessed to have family we could go to..not everyone is so fortunate.
Media Watchdog: CBS Has 'Long Way to Go'

(CNSNews.com) - A media watchdog group said Monday CBS has "a long way to go" before the controversy surrounding documents critical of President Bush's National Guard Service is "put to rest."
The network and veteran Dan Rather's apologized Monday, saying they were "misled" by Texas Guard official Bill Burkett about the source of the documents. CBS said it could not prove that the documents were authentic, but did not admit that the memos were forged.
"Dan Rather and CBS suggest they were 'misled' as if they are the victims here," said Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, the parent organization of CNSNews.com. "They were not misled.
"Their sources were dubious at best - so much so that their primary source was never cited publicly - and they were certainly partisan with a political agenda against the President," Bozell said in a statement. He pointed out that "CBS did not check all of their facts, and even their own experts told them not to go with the story.
"CBS also had on-the-record statements from Lt. Col. Jerry Killian's own son who said the story wasn't true - and still they were repeating the discredited 'sentiments' a week later," he added.
"Dan Rather has said: 'If I knew then what I know now - I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question.' Mr. Rather, what you know now is what you knew then," Bozell said.
"The documents were not a credible basis for this story and CBS had no business airing this attack on President Bush. CBS is not the victim here, the victims are the President, his family, and the general public that was misled," he said.
"This issue will only be resolved when the public knows not just why CBS fell for this fraud but who exactly was behind this smear. CBS owes it to the public to take definitive action against all in its ranks who are culpable - no matter how high up the blame goes," said Bozell.
"Then, and only then, will the public have confidence that stories reported by CBS are based on fact, not fiction," he concluded.
LOL, I love your monicker.. especially since you are already in your pajamas, you could go right to bed. :)
the key to getting out of a maze is to put your right hand on the right row of corn and just walk without removing your hand. You will 100% assuredly get out!
G'day McLynnan from me (ozbushkin) in Sydney!
That would work too! :) The statue of liberty maze sounds fun.
Let me translate that: If I had know that releasing those bogus documents to smear Bush were going to cause such a firestorm that will cost me my job....
Tell ya what. Come on over in about 2 weeks and we'll test out your method. I think that we should start in the morning tho, so we will be done by dark.
I adore those Barney pictures and the captions. Let's make that a regular feature of the Dose.
Over here is the Dose I told you about, Ivan (our English friend, not the hurricane. LOL)
That is too bad about your cat. Maybe when you least expect it, she'll show up. Cats (and dogs) are like that sometimes.
By the way, your new Governor Riley is awfully good looking in these pics tonight. Care to do a swap? You send Riley to Michigan, and we'll be very happy to send Jennifer Granholm to Alabama. Deal?
***Do you have any big phatte natural disasters down under, like we do (hurricanes, tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes, floods, whatever)?***
Good heavens no. We only have drought (which we are experiencing at the moment - Sydney metro area is on water restrictions) and bushfire season which is fast approaching. They do experience cyclones up in the northern part of Oz. But, my goodness, those hurricanes and tornado-thingies look absolutely terrifying...
