Ripped Sign Spurs National Debate (Kerry Thugs vs. 3 yr. old Bush Supporter)
The Herald-Dispatch (Via Drudge) ^ | Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 | JIM ROSS

Barboursville resident Phil Parlock and his children became national celebrities in the world of Internet blogging and conservative talk radio on Friday.

A Bush-Cheney campaign sign yanked from the hands of 3-year-old Sophia Parlock and ripped into pieces was the focus of all the attention. The incident occurred Thursday evening at Tri-State Airport during Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards’ campaign stop.

Republican supporters all over the Internet on Friday were saying Parlock was merely a Republican exercising his First Amendment rights, set upon by Democratic thugs.

You have got to remember that WV is not a state, but
rather a condition. Although most LE officers in WV are
dedicated, well trained, and fair, we have more than
our share of officers who like to think they are Rambo
when in reality they are Barney Fifes. I believe the
incident in Charleston was just one of poor judgement
by the constabulary, although the pictures of the Kerry
supporters that I can remember rendered them to be a
pretty rough looking couple.

Or state motto should be changed from Mountaineers are
Always Free to Thank God for Mississippi!

Have a great and safe remainder of the weekend!

Big difference.

Tremendous difference!

I'm happy to learn that they don't arrest people in West Virginia for the kind of shirt they wear.

From post #57:

The woman arrested at a Bush rally was picked up for trespassing on private property at a closed event.

RATs at my campus calling this guy a disruptor who scams the media. Liberals = insane.

Yes, and Florida lost to Tennessee because the refs didn't see the first offense. There's no excuse in football for a silly bit of retaliation that costs you the game, and in politics there's no possible insult that can justify attacking a child.

If the guy showed up at a Kerry rally he's obviously an activist. The Left hates it when we profit from their tactics.

Interesting apology(?) from the City Council and Mayor of Charleston....

Page 6 and 7 of pdf

Particularly this section...

When Charleston Police Department was called to the scene of an incident at the Capitol on July 4, officers from other law enforcement agencies on a multi-agency security force had already made a decision – in conjunction with event organizers – to arrest and remove Nicole and Jeff Rank from a secured perimeter of the official Presidential visit, and one of our officers was on the team of law enforcement officials directed to execute the arrest and remove two individuals; and

WHEREAS, Our officers acted responsibly and in good faith, following the directives of persons whom they reasonably found to be state or federal government officers in charge of security issues for the ticket-screened audience immediately in advance of the time when the President of the United States would appear before that crowd;

Kerry was bound to lose from the getgo.

W's WOT stones have carried him in spite of virtually 99% of all media institutions in this country battering him day in and day out.

It's over.

But we still need to get out and push voting.

Father apparently had to learn this lesson the hard way.

I don't think you have the whole story. The father didn't exactly go on the floor of the Democrat Convention, here. And even if he did, police cannot stand idly by and allow public assault on a three year old girl. I'm sorry. The question I and others have is - why - doesn't Phil Parlock press charges against this goon? I think that's what people are wondering.

I printed out the better photo that had her brother with clinched fists.

Do you still have a copy of that digital photo on your computer? If so, I'd really like to get my hands on it (as it were).

Thanks. Well, it does seem odd that the father would really be that naive about the behaviour of these types of crowds. I don't think this type of stuff needs to be staged (there are enough goons to go around), but when the choices are either that, or that he intentionally brought a young child into a predictably volitile situation - and for political gain and media face time at that - it is disgusting and inexcusable.

I really don't want to believe that some people are so eager and willing to use their own children as political props, but we know they do. If that's what this one turns out to be, I can't say I'd be surprised.

I have sympathy if he is just plain dumb, but he doesn't appear to be a clueless dimwit. He could be just another believer in the "end justifies the means". That would make him no different than any idiot who would bully a three-year-old or kick a puppy. How fitting, then, that he should participate in the same rally as union goons.

Fool.

Sam Adams was a fool. He endangered his family too.

George Washington was a fool. He endangered every patriot school boy at the time.

Lincoln was a fool. Left his wife a widow and his kids fatherless.

* * *

We stand with the fools -- if that's what you call a man, a Dad, who loves his children so much that he's willing to risk their safety for freedom.

* * *

Like those families of Cubans on makeshift rafts, or those of the pioneers crossing Indian territory.

All, in your book, fools.

* * *

Liberty!

Don't send your daughters to Jerusalem. Too dangerous. That you'd do so -- disgusting and inexcusable. Eh?

"in boston, the protestors were fenced in behind barbed wire"

Yes! It was even worse -- it was a true pen. A small space under an offal-dripping highway underpass surrounded by barbed and concertina wire.

The authorities, iirc, called it a "Free Speech Zone".

It was tyranny. In Boston. The home of Hancock, the Adams, Raul Revere, James Otis, Crispus Attucks, the Tea Party, etc. Boston, once a city famous for its buring desire for Liberty.

And without men like Phil Parlock, with Dad's such as he, without his family and kids to go in harm's way -- to cross their Jordan -- we are lost. Peons and serfs under tyrannts.

That Thug in his cap? Without Parlock and family -- tomorrow he and his ilk are our elected leaders. None dare up against them. Too dangerous.

They know -- from posts like yours -- that all they have to do is threaten your kiddies, your dear children -- and they have you. They have beat you, they have suppressed you.

Cheer on Mr. Parlock! Go and run to his aid! That is the right question -- "How can I run quickest to the side of Mr. Parlock?"

. . . and what are your opinions about women who are raped? Are they "fools" for wearing a dress that reveals their legs?

Standard procedure (at almost every democratic cause) is for school kids and children to be "assignments" to make banners, discuss "issues", walk in protests, be in the photo-op with the latest democrat official, get on TV ...

Even to the point of "donating" from the classroom.

Same strategy.

Different tactic..

Different "thugs" in the teacher unions and others.

I reacted the same way. I heard the father on the Glenn Beck show saying how proud he was of his son - he said the boy was ready to take on the thug. That was definitely his son.
