Statement from the General President Regarding the Events in Huntington, WV
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues. What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.
I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the full extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.
General President James A. Williams

.... one of our overzealous members caused them. The apology is good. The use of these words are not.
He should have said: ".... totally unacceptable behavior by one of our members ...."

An honorably leftly. Need to thank him for it. Honorable behavior might be catching.

Thank God for "on tape." ;)
I do have to admit that the powers that be at The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades have now shown more integrity than CBS/Dan Rather.

Part of the punishment should be determined by looking at the guy's record. Was he just a jerk that day who got carried away but has otherwise led a good life?
If he physically assaulted her, that is very, very serious. If he tore up a sign, it is less serious.
The parents are the ones who will have to find acceptable his ultimate judgment and punishment.
If he has never been in trouble before, I would be satisfied with the following:
1. The reading of a public apology.
2. A short suspension from his union.
3. 100 hours of community service that benefits children.
4. The completion of a community college or extension course about young children and their development.
5. Replacement of the sign he destroyed.
6. Wearing a shirt while performing his community service that says: Attacking conservatives, particulary little girls, is not acceptable political discourse.
If this guy is humiliated in public, it will show the heart and soul of the DemocRATic party and what the union and other RAT thugs are capable of doing. That exposure is a very good thing. One act should not destroy this guy's life.

Good for Williams and the union brass, even if it's just a matter of sh!t rolling downhill.
Everything's on camera now and nobody gets a pass these days.
A good time to remind Freepers of the Code of the Non-violent Freep. Never let yourself be goaded into initiating violence. Most times (99.44%) even retaliation should be limited to blocking and laughing.
:O)
As for the goon with the backassward hat (was it Paul Fussel that called that look, "Master of Technology"?), like Dubya said, "When I was young and dumb, I was young and dumb."
A learning experience all around.

Who are you kidding? His unios bros. will buy him a beer at the bar at shift change. Myself having drunk a lot of beer with union members, you don't know them very well.
The thug defamed the union with his actions. Smirking at a crying three year old is not exactly the epitome of manliness, and certainly not the kind of publicity ANY union member wants for his union. The statement by the president of the union will be strongly reflected by the rank and file - but their method of conveying it will be much more pointed.

No doubt the thug will be promoted to Shop Steward for crushing opposition to their Socialist Goals!

he did it because the goon was caught on cameraTrue, but he could have still tried to spin it as a setup, like everyone else was doing.
I think the goons are at lot more worried about getting away with this kind of crap, now that they know the Pajamahadeen are out there, watching.

Just got off the phone with Phil Parlock ... "That's ridiculous. This is a small town," Parlock told me from his home in Huntington, W. Virginia. "Everyone would recognize him."
