Statement from the General President Regarding the Events in Huntington, WV
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues. What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.
I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the full extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.
General President James A. Williams

"Nice, because the DUmmies are AGAIN repudiated."
In all honesty, are you surprised? Seems like some of the Freepers here were DRINKING THE DU KOOL AID.
I never bought it.

Very refreshing.
No weasel words.
Can't undo the damage but it goes high on the integrity meter.

I'm not surprised, but I was accused of 'ad hominem' for suggesting DUmmies were disinformation artists, a fact plain on the face of the record.

Give the man credit for saying the right things....we'll see if actions match words. Let's hope so.

Nice to see someone willing to take a stand. Rather could take a lesson in manhood from this Union president.

Nagging rumors are now RIP.I'd like to think you are right.
Still, I will feel better when/if conclusive evidence that the union thug was indeed a union thug and not the man's son in disguise

Also from M. Malkin's blog: "Parlock and his daughter were surrounded by a group of about five or six nasty pro-Kerry folks... (emphasis added) Gosh, it's unusual for Michelle to be redundant. [/tongue in cheek]

Did you read #129 above?
Do you think the union president is a fool - apologizing before he knows what he's saying?
To: Stellar Dendrite
Well, I do okay. But I will ping you for your help.
Be well.

Yes I did read #129. You are preaching to the choir here, friend.
Having said this, the best to stop the DU/leftblog rumormills is to provide conclusive proof that this union thug was indeed a union thug, or (at least on a national basis) doubts will linger.
BTW I personally believe that the union president's response was much more CYA than genuine apology. I nkow the types.

I am impressed that he responded. What a breath of fresh air compared to Dan the Man . I did jot a note thanking & commending him. I personally don't want to see the man fired. I think he should publicly (and face to face) apologize to the family & his union which he did NOT represent very well. There is possibly some internal disciplinary works?
My guess is that he isn't even 20. Sometimes I am too much a softies, I guess.. but I think a meeting of that young man & the family would be worthwhile. On
Glenn Beck, the father mentioned he was a Christian etc.. Maybe a convert is in the works - politically & spiritually.

It IS posted on DU. Currently on that very thread, they are gloating about future backlash when it comes out that the Union tshirt guy is actually Parlock's son and the whole thing is staged. They've emailed the union with their "findings." They're delusional.
