Didn't Kerry do some fundraising and campaigning in Texas several weeks ago. Did he stay at a "personal friends house somewhere close to Abilene?

"Wouldn't it be on the phone bill for Kinko's?"

And wouldn't it be interesting to see what other numbers were sent a fax at about the same time?

LOL....it is like a damn soap opera!

That may be Burkett's motivation, GWB stole his girlfiend back in the day.

Just speculating.

The FBI needs to be looking at this.
Yea, wire fraud, forgery etc..
Bill Burkett could be just a patsy. I read a book on commie spy Whittaker Chambers.
He used to drive all night just to mail a letter.

This has definitely shortened the campaign season drastically. Kerry is sinking fast and has no media covering him to try to gain traction. Bush is ahead and apparantly a victim of a forgery against him. Kerry is running out of time and this CBS fake memo story will continue to be a story for some time. It either backfired on Dan Rather, Robin Rather, Ben JR Ewing Barnes, the DNC OR it's working brilliantly for The Clintons, Begala and Carville. At any rate...great for Bush

Subpoena the telephone records from the fax machines, from all area Kinkos's.

Why? It wouldn't show you who actually sent them. It would only show the receiving fax number and the Kinkos fax number.

If the forgeries were done on the Kinkos computers, it can be traced via their login records. But if someone just walked in off the street and asked to fax something, paid with cash, and left, there would be no way to ID the specific person, other than a mugshot.

OTOH, these idiots were dumb enough to forge something... they probably paid with a credit card or check.

CBS Guard Documents Traced to Tex. Kinko's
Records Reportedly Faxed From Abilene
By Michael Dobbs
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, September 16, 2004; Page A06

Documents allegedly written by a deceased officer that raised questions about President Bush's service with the Texas Air National Guard bore markings showing they had been faxed to CBS News from a Kinko's copy shop in Abilene, Tex., according to another former Guard officer who was shown the records by the network.

The markings provide one piece of evidence suggesting a source for the documents, whose authenticity has been hotly disputed since CBS aired them in a "60 Minutes" broadcast Sept. 8. The network has declined to name the person who provided them, saying the source was confidential, or to explain how the documents came to light after more than three decades.

There is only one Kinko's in Abilene, and it is 21 miles from the Baird, Tex., home of retired Texas National Guard officer Bill Burkett, who has been named by several news outlets as a possible source for the documents.

There must be at least one Kinko's employee ready to accept $10,000 from The National Enquirer for information.

Not odd at all since Kinkos is basically the hi-tech equivalent of a public pay phone. My bet is this was a cash transaction just to fax (to CBS, DNC, USAT, et alia) the bogus documents. Hard to fully trace but Burkett, Barnes, Mapes & Rather's spawn were all near this key nexus.

Wouldn't it be great if Kinko's has video cameras taping everyone who enters the store. Of course, by now the tape, if it existed, would have been written over :(
