You may be a Kerry supporter if . . .

With the joyful experiences of summer vacations fading into pleasant memories, and commuters once again immersed in the fragrant exhaust of school buses, political banter intensifies while the nation finally focuses on electing a commander in chief.

But there's a peculiar tone to the banter of my anti-Bush friends, who can barely conceal their resentment at the Clouseaulike caricature they feel compelled to support. They know John Kerry is a political strawman, a second-rate politico who was in the left place at the right time. So, little or nothing is offered about his specific qualifications, accomplishments, experience, temperament and (especially) personality.

You may be a Kerry supporter when you post ignorant things regarding Iran:

"Quite the contrary. It us just because Bush is president and has been an outrageous bully, that they want to develop nukes for defense."

• Still swaying on the fence? Imagine you're a director at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., looking to hire a new chief executive officer after a recent merger with Brown & Williamson. You interview a prospective candidate who claims he would be a strong leader and expand the company's market share. Then, you discover he worked for the last 30 years to put tobacco companies out of business. If you would recommend hiring the candidate because he smoked cigarettes for four months in 1969, you might be a Kerry supporter.

You're right, the next to last paragraph is great, thanks for pointing it out.

If you believe that it is more important that a dynamic war leader may have missed a drill 30 years ago than it is that a liberal Senator missed 76% of his Senate Intelligence Committee meetings after 9-11, you are a Kerry supporter.

You might be a Kerry supporter if...

You salivate and your leg muscles twitch when you hear an ambulance siren.

My neighbor moved out and new ones moved in recently. I had heard he was a lawyer, now I see the Kerry sign in his yard. No doubt about it...

You believe that 200+ veterans from all walks of life are an untrustworth source, but that supposed 31-year old memo that matches Microsoft Word's default settings perfectly raises no red flags whatsoever.

Here's one that I feel compelled to add after my husband and I wasted our time at a dinner with some of my medical school classmates and their significant others.

Upon hearing that my husband was a soldier, one of these enlightened liberals, after his fiancee marched off and refused to look at my husband ever again, attempted to engage my husband in conversation. The unlucky liberal terminated the subject once he realized that my husband was not going to let him pontificate about how the military should be run (score one victory for Sgt. AQGeiger!). Anyhoo, here's a part of the conversation, as related by my husband...

Liberal: I just don't understand why you don't want to vote for Kerry.

Hubby: Well, Kerry did vote against the funding for the body armor that protected me while in Iraq.

Liberal: Well, the numbers just don't add up. I can't believe there has to be that much money appropriated for body armor.

Hubby: Well, if you consider the cost of the body armor, and the expense involved in protecting every soldier in-country, it gets a little expensive.

Liberal: Why can't you just swith off your armor with other soldiers?

He couldn't seem to understand that my husband needs to keep his body armor for the next deployment, and that the soldiers relieving his unit also need body armor while the two units are in the area together.

So, here's my addendum to this editoral.....

"You might be a Kerry supporter if you think that soldiers in Iraq should have to share their body armor with other soldiers."

And the last paragraph:

"John Kerry ends his Web site biography with the words
"Let America be America again." If you know to which of
John Edwards' "Two Americas" Kerry refers, and what
we're supposed to let the other America be, you just
might be ... John Kerry."

Anyone wanting to get to know the real John Kerry needs to
read the full poem, by lefty Langston Hughes, that the
"Let America ...", line is taken from.

"I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek--
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak."

'76% of his Senate Intelligence Committee meetings after 9-11'

actually, he missed 100% of the public IC meetings after the FIRST bombing of the WTC in 1993.

He unfortunately didn't credit the reports from professional security men advising him that Logan Airport in Boston was not secure against attack...as a matter of fact, he did not listen to one of the whistleblowers because "he was not a constituent"!!!!!

I just don't understand why you don't want to vote for Kerry.

What a moron. These people can't even come up with a good reason to vote for Kerry themselves, but they can't understand why we wouldn't want to do it.

You know, I think I've been giving liberals more credit than they're due in the case of intellect. I just don't want to believe that anyone could REALLY be as stupid as they continually show us they are. But they seem to prove my optimistic outlook for them wrong every time!
