In a development that could have devastating implications for John Kerry's presidential campaign, CBS News is refusing to say whether the top Democrat, his campaign aides or any other prominent party officials had anything to do with supplying "60 Minutes" with a National Guard memo about President Bush that experts say was forged.

MY GOSH! Why did Kerry forge documents about Bush? Why did CBS support Kerry doing this???????????
If things get to hot, Dan will announce his retirement from C-BS and he will become their scapegoat.
....Wesley Clark
LOL!
Dan Rather is following the lead of the man he worships mostWilliam Jefferson Clinton. It was only a few months ago when Rather told Bill O'Reilly that Clinton was an honest man.
Like Clinton, Liar Dan will not change his story until some court decision determines he lied, at which time most of the outrage will be diminished and he then may humbly apologize and claim he caused no harm. It worked for Clintonwhy not Rather?
Rather often displays the attitude of royal supremacy ("Do you know who I am?") that runs rampant among most democrat politicians. I do not believe letters of inquiry or outrage to CBS will have any effect upon Rathers stonewalling attitude for his despicable lack of integrity. I only can hope, but not really expect, some diligent prosecutor with sufficient expertise and appreciation of justice will uncover the evidence with which to justify some Graybar Hotel retirement time for Rather and his corrupt accomplices.
Meanwhile, let us avoid all CBS TV (including evening programs, sports and news) and ask our President to disallow any CBS participation in his news events and political debates.
WHAT DID RATHER KNOW AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?
You're right... what was I thinking ;-)
CBS officials have declined to say who provided "60 Minutes" with the documents, other than that it was an "unimpeachable source" -- or exactly where they came from, other than the "personal file" of Killian, who died in 1984.
I'm sure this has been posted on FR, but if not, I will.

Don't miss the next "60 minutes"! Lesley Stahl is doing a report on identity theft! I wonder if they'll interview Lt. Colonel Killian's ghost.

Dan Rather probably thinks this whole matter won't last much longer than the time it takes hurricane Ivan to hit US shores. He could be right.
This is one deny or not I have to give them at the moment. It is vastly obvious they did little or no research on the documents in their glee at finding something on Bush, and got themselves into this problem. It is more than possible, they DON'T know where the documents came from and didn't care at the time they got it. Kind of like a letter bomb, right? It may turn out that it was created by the DNC, and I wouldn't put it past Terry McAuliff to do it as he acts like a thief, but I like to think the best of people and still like to consider CBS possibly just stupid rather than dishonest. And that's the best I can do for them and only if they fess up that the documents are forged and they messed up. Otherwise, they slip back into dishonest.
Oh, and to be fair and honest, I think the same about CNN and all of it's spin offs, ABC, and NBC and all of it's confused ms's a c' or whatever letter it wishes to present itself as. They need to do the right things. But have they in most cases, nope.
Red
"unimpeachable source" eh?
Must not be Bush or Cheney.
I hate to say, but Newsmax.com has little or no credibility on much of anything in MMHO.
Bwah hah hah hah hah...
"Snakehead" and "The Forehead" joined the Kerry campaign shortly before Rathergate broke. Could there be a connection? Do I hear a Nah?
Reference bump. Thanks! ;-)
