Well, it's either going to work or cause more damage.

That is actually what I was thinking. I posted some info about previous attempts to do this on one of the hurricane threads. I'll see if I can come up with it.
What he is attempting, does make sense.

Great, now, not only will South Florida be littered with uprooted palm trees and remnants of broken trailer homes, they'll have billions of foam packing peanuts coating the countryside...

I've got a better idea... let's get everyone down here in Florida to stand on the beach and blow real hard .. maybe that will push it in another direction.

Yea he better take a look at the legal ramifications of messing with mother nature... You'll have a bunch of liberal scientists saying if he didn't do this it is possible that the storm would have moved somewhere else or downgraded on its own or some such crap...
Or worse they will accuse him of being backed by the President and the GOP because we are trying to fight hurricanes ... either way could be bad news.

Great. In addition to 140 mph winds, we'll have .5 lb hailstones moving at 140 mph. Talk about shredding.

He has assembled a team of experts, including two former astronauts, moonwalker Edgar Mitchell and Scott Mac Leod, who tested the lunar module. What? They are going to walk on that powder, or drive lunar module through the hurricane? What about Michael Jackson, they should drop him into the cloud and do his moonwalk. Button the hatchets and stand by!
