Does Rather think Kerry needs to answer the questions posed by the Swifties? I think not.

"But having said that, even Bush supporters can admit that verbal virtuosity isn't Bush's strong suit."

No it isn't, but at least he does sound and look like a normal, likeable human being while saying it. That's far and away better than Sir Kerry. Listening to him is more like acid in a paper cut, I'd say.

At least when President Bush doesn't quite say what he means, you still know what he means. When Kerry says what he means, you still don't know what he means.

It's really almost amazing how much dumber, shallower and more naiive DUers are than freepers. I mean, of course they are all of that. But the extent to which it is so boggles the mind. They really are DUmb@sses.

But of course there is no such typewriter. The centering and kerning seal the deal.

And there is the little problem with the good Generals retirement date of 72 preceding the August 73 Memo saying the General was applying pressure to the Widows Husband who never used the typewriter...

Howard Baker had the famous quote

Thanx. I've seen that so often lately I thought it must have come from Klintoon's impeachment.

I did a google search on Baker. Seemed to be a fine man.

If only Nixon had burned the tapes, huh?

Sweet revenge, if Col. Killian's wife and son sued the pants off CBS and Rather.

KE 04 is not stupid just desperate. I suspect this was originally designed to be an "October Surprise" but with their campaign in danger of sinking out of sight, they rolled the schedule forward in an effort to rescue the campaign. What they didn't plan on was CBS posting the forgeries in a place where they could be scrutinized. They couldn't exactly tell CBS not to either without raising suspicions, even among the brain-dead Bush-haters at 60 Minutes.

Agreed. They also didn't count on a bunch of tenacious FReepers who relish in solving mysteries and the emerging power of the New Media.

If they can prove the docs are forged they could easily be millionaires this time next year.

Dan Rather interview...I think Rather actually said the seriousness of the charges is more important than the authenticity of the documents.

Major league Kool-Aide drinker.

DAN IS GOING DOWN! HE IS STAKING HIS ENTIRE CREDIBILITY ON THIS ALREADY DISPROVEN STORY.

CBS should be less concerned about Rather's career than his health. He is quite old, and this type of thing could KILL him. I would not wish that on anyone. They need to end this ASAP before this destroys an American news icon.

there were people at CBS who had doubts about the memos, too.

Clearly that is true, or else this story would have run on Sunday's program.

These are NOT the docs that were obtained via FOIA. These were allegedly found in Killian's private files.

Yes. The Dims were trying to muddy the water by inmpl;ying that these docs were "released" by the Whitehouse. Some docs were released, either voluntarily by the WH or via FOIA request. The forged docs were added by "somebody" (???). To think that the Dims would slander a sitting president in this way is astonishing. Whoever is responsible, and everyone who abeted this fraud, should go down HARD. This is a criminal act -- borderline subversion.

19 - Box 34567 is suspicious, at best. The current use of the po box 34567 is Ashland Chemical Company, A Division of Ashland Oil, Incorporated P. O. Box 34567 Houston

Does anyone here realize that Ashland Chemical Company and HALLIBURTON share the same Lawyers?!

</sarcasm>
