As much as I would like to think so, I don't think its any of the usual suspects. Lets face it, they are great at screeching but not so great at thinking.
I suspect that it is some individual down in Texas who has some sort of old grudge against the Bushes and saw an opportunity to take a shot at them.
CBS just grabbed it and ran without much checking because they are desperate.
Thats my guess. LOL. Too funny.

Whoever did it, we can be thankful that our opposition seem to be dumber than autistic possums. First off they do an obvious job of forging the papers, then 60 minutes rushes to make them public without even spotting it.

Suppose for a second that these docs were indeed handed to CBS by the Kerry camp for rapid dissemination. I seem to remember Rush talking today about some in the MSM starting to feel betrayed by the Kerry campaign..that the campaign wasn't trying hard enough for all the effort the media was putting forth on behalf of Kerry. I would love to be a fly on the wall over at CBS.

Rush always tells us to "Follow the Money" when looking for culprits. In this case, I amend that advice to "Follow the Power".
Who is about to lose a key position in the Kerry campaign and needed to make a big splash quick to keep that job? Let's get that list... or the person who SHOULD have been on it, yet wasn't ... and you may have your schemer.

I'm not sure you're asking the pertinent question in this thread. The REAL question is, why is CBS, and the powers that be at 60 Minutes, not doing their homework? I have no idea where the documents came from, but how in the heck could a major news network come out with such a big "teaser" for a major story, without having their facts straight.
I'll give you an example of the impact of this hit piece. A friend of mine, who is "iffy" about who they are going to vote for sent me an email this morning. He talked about not having any respect for Kerry, but yet he had heard that 60 Minutes had proof that President Bush had not fulfilled his military duties. Thus, in his mind, neither candidate deserves his vote.
Obviously, this could have an impact on potential voters. If CBS and 60 Minutes don't have their facts straight, they need to be held accountable.

Serious question: is there anyone that still thinks it was possible that these documents were created in 1972? I ask not to flame or harrass, but seriously to inquire as this morning (yes, it seems like light years ago to those of us who have literally followed this all day -- between trying to do our job) there were a few familiar with the IBM Executive and other typewriters with proportional fonts that suggested the documents they saw could have been written at a Guard post in the '70s.
I don't think there's any question now that these are fakes, but I am still interested in those that might think otherwise for legitimate reasons (i.e., not wishful thinking).
Also, a lot was mentioned with the line breaks. Was there any other discussion about the distance between lines? They lined up about 100% vs. new documents created today in Word, but I don't now recall anyone mentioning that the vertical distance between the lines could or could not have been similar.
