CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED
**Exclusive**
CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.
The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.
Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

Shell Shocked ?...doesnt that have to do with guns? Guns are bad! Dan said so...
CBS SUITS (whispering to Rather's assistants): "Hey, wherever that monster Ivan hits take old Dan down and put him right in front of it. Hand him a microphone, turn the cameras and lights on then jump in the van and leave the old fart there. Don't worry, he won't notice you have left and will talk to the camera until the lights go out or he gets blown out to sea".
This makes me wonder if Sandy Burglar not only stole documents, but may have PLANTED FAKE documents for some future October surprise operation that the dummies have in the works. Why isn't Burglar in prison?
Not to mention Harkin
Rather must resign.
Ordinarily I would say there is something sick and twisted about taking pleasure in witnessing torture... but not when it's an liberal mainstream "news" outlet, like CBS, that is the one being tortured.
Go Drudge!
The Dems Little Print Shop of Horrors...
I totally agree. But the DNC line is going to be something like, "While we regret the error that occurred with the so called documents it does not change the fact that the economy under George W. Bush is...blah blah blah"
Still, egg on the face is good for what it is. And I agree 100% that it is past time for Rather to resign. Bye Dan...you pompous lying sonofabit**.
CBS Investigation- through a wine party told everyone, bad, bad of you than handed out bonus checks courtesy of Soros and moveon.org.
It is becoming all too clear that Dan Rather's bias and hatred of the Republicans and Bush in particular is so overwhelming that it not only clouds his judgment, but the credibility of your entire network..
Choosing to run with the false documents, and Ben Barnes as creditable witnesses against our President is an outrage at least and very sad at best. A cursory attempt to check out the authenticity of the documents before airing them, would have helped, and that totally discredited man, Kerry's co chair Ben Barnes no less, behind the allegations would have saved your embarrassment.
I haven't any compassion left to feel or a tiny bit of sorrow for the situation that you people find yourself in today, it's all of your own making.
Thanks for your service to our country.. May the last one out the doors of CBS, kindly turn off the lights..
Chris I just found out about it just now about there might fake document with suppose Ben Barnes run smack chat on Dubya
This going blow up in CBS faces BIG TIME
Viacom stockholders won't be amused
In some twisted way, I hope Rather stays on. He is now an exposed patsy for the hate-Bush crowd. If he didn't know about this, then everyone will look at him as being played a fool by the left. If he did know, then he is part of a fraud, either way, his reputation is toast.
I wonder if others in the media will wake up and realize they cannot be a stooge for the left with out risking their careers. They will always have Rather to look at and decide, is it worth it.
nothing to loose sleep over.
I heard that too. Man, I sure hope so. This has been one of the best days on FR in a long time. You guys ROCK!
I don't think the "regular" media can ignore this like they would like to. I want to see Rather soiling himself over this!
No way. That's a smear; it's not near high enough.
An apology is not good enough Dan....WHO GAVE YOU THE RECORDS!!!!
LOL LOL LOL. TOO FUNNY!
What a great day!
LOL! "Bowling for Documents" gets my vote!
Yeah, Mark Levin played the conversation she had with Monica Crowley today. She said he told her back in 2000 that he hadn't helped Bush. Now he's writing a book, and told her a couple of months ago that he was going to do this. She said she loves her father, but he's a liar and a political opportunist.
